Re: Can't call out - Billion 6404VGP
Thanks outbush, I've been thinking about that as well but then I'd also lose the WLAN. Also not sure what it would change in terms of the VoIP - I suspect that all that switch does is disable the internal Ethernet switch and WAP (along with associated routing, firewall, etc). The advice in that orig...

Re: Can't call out - Billion 6404VGP
Good idea - originally the plan was to have a (real, not so-called) DMZ, but since that never worked as advertised I can just as well just skip that. Now I've just looked at the bridge mode settings and am a bit stumped as to how to actually set that up. First, under "Other WAN Bridge Connection", t...

Can't call out - Billion 6404VGP
I have just been converted to ADSL2+ and enabled my VoIP recently. Now I receive incoming calls on my new number, but if I try to call out to my existing landline (with connected phone), nothing happens. Ditto for my mobile - can call in from it, but not out to it. Using a Billion 6404VGP which I've...

Re: phone stopped working, no non-Exetel Internet
Thanks Jason, all working now!
Woo-hoo!
Dial tone has been fixed this afternoon by Telstra, so it all looks pretty good!
Many thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Re: phone stopped working, no non-Exetel Internet
You can always email residentialsupport@exetel.com.au to log any fault, just quote the ticket number that you may already have. Just hard to do when email doesn't work. Re the initial problem: a similar issue happened on a friend's connection: Double check the settings in your modem's ADSL configur...

Re: phone stopped working, no non-Exetel Internet
Now I don't have access to the members area nor helpdesk anymore, either - as if my account had been disabled or the password changed.
So where & how can I get this sorted?
Not happy...

phone stopped working, no non-Exetel Internet
I was told that my connection was switched from ADSL1 (TELD) to ADSL2+ (PTL A) today. In the late morning my phone went dead and Internet access stopped working. I thought it might be a temporary problem and waited an hour or two, but nothing changed, so I called the Exetel number. There I navigated...

Re: Routed SMS2email - receive without Virtual Mobile number
Yes, I have 43 virtual numbers:- one for each registered email. Are these all VPM numbers? From the Traitel FAQ : Can I have more than one Alphanumeric ID? You can have as many Alphanumeric sender ID's as you like. If you have more than one business and 'ACME' (as an example) is not enough, you log...

Re: Routed SMS2email - receive without Virtual Mobile number
Yes, I have 43 virtual numbers:- one for each registered email. If these virtual numbers are taken from the Nationally allocated phone numbering system it isn't very effective because if everyone starts getting 40 or more of them we will need to go to 11 or 12 digit phone numbers pretty quick! That...

Re: Routed SMS2email - receive without Virtual Mobile number
Hi, What I have in mind is some sort of address and/or verification token in the actual incoming SMS. That would allow for straight sending as well, not just replying to received messages. If recipients can register allowed sender numbers and we trust them (to that extent), it might also work withou...

Routed SMS2email - receive without Virtual Mobile number
G'day, I would really like to be able to receive some SMS as email, but not nearly enough so to justify the $15/month expense for a virtual mobile number. So I'm wondering if it would make sense for Exetel to have a facility for "routed" incoming SMS, i.e. only one central recipient number and then ...

Re: Admin fee increase
Thanks FA for your response, much appreciated and I take most of your points. The one I would question being 1) Which leads me to ask whether this new charge could have been avoided by skipping the quota increase (just like the last price increase). 1) They are two completely different issues - thou...

Re: Admin fee increase
In a way I find this whole affair slightly amusing - just recently the download quotas were raised and I changed to a lower plan, saving me $5 per month. Now we get an "administration fee" and my cost goes up by $3 again, leaving me with $2 savings. Now from my personal perspective, and with only on...
