Re: ADSL Plans/$10 - $25 Per Month Discounts

My concern is that I'm not near a landline or VoIP phone and need to call a 13 number. I won't have the opportunity to search the internet to find their 'real' number. Over the last 2 months I made four 13/18 calls totalling 19 minutes. So that means that if I continue that tiny trend, I will pay $2...

Re: External Connectivity

Hi guys, I put in a fault ticket describing the problems. The kind network engineer said "your service was restored after we cleared the circuit of the connection." So great. My friend also similar problems yesterday. I told him to set his DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 manually then he said everything ...

Re: External Connectivity

Ok, I've definitely ruled out DNS issues. On two computers (one with 8.8.8.8 as DNS and one with ADSL Modem as DNS 192.168.0.138) they can both resolve exetel.com.au and telstra.com 144.140.108.23. On both PCs they can use IE to browse to exetel.com.au with no problems, but can't browse to telstra.c...

Re: External Connectivity

Thanks for the tips Dazzled. I'm proud to say (but unfortunate in this instance) they have first ADSL modem available in Australia, the Alcatel Speedtouch Home, I flashed it to the Speedtouch pro, but the thought of calling her and getting her to navigate the menu system will be impossible. So until...

External Connectivity

Hi, My parents have rung me saying 'the Internet's not working' They are in Perth, on Optus Naked ADSL. I've looked at the network status and everything is green despite some issues this morning. Over the phone I've got her to do the following: Can send SMS via the Exetel SMS Windows application. Tu...

Re: ADSL Plans/$10 - $25 Per Month Discounts

Thanks for the clarification about the 13/1800 numbers. I've moved my TPG CAP49 (that includes 13/1800) to the Exetel CAP35 plan. Both effectively $20, except for the new exclusions. I've also noticed that the newer TPG plans exclude 13/1800 numbers in their caps. What would be the motivations of Op...

Re: ADSL Plans/$10 - $25 Per Month Discounts

Hi, I thought I would give you my scenario to show why Exetel's bundling is a good option for residential customers. Currently I've got ADSL - Exetel ONA, $40/mo Mobile - TPG 49 cap, $20/mo Netbook - Exetel Prepaid (R2000 2GB for $30 over 90 days) i.e. $10/mo That's $70/mo. $50 going to Exetel. If I...

Re: Unbundled 3G capable netbooks

That's weird. When I was there in May, there were four versions, two for $450 and two for $550, the two with $550 had either the HSPA modem or the TV tuner. I guess they made a deal with Vodafone eh. Sucks

Re: Unbundled 3G capable netbooks

I bought the Dell Inspiron 10 with 3G built in. It was $550 at the time, 1366x768 screen. I have been very happy with it. For the first few months the 3G modem would lose the connection with the tower, and I needed to have a ping program running constantly to keep it going. Optus must have upgraded ...

Wireless mbps jumped yesterday at 1400

Hi, I was looking at the usage graph on http://exetel.com.au/business-hspa-pricing.php and noticed a very large jump at 1400 yesterday. But when I go to the usual MRTG page https://www.exetel.com.au/members/a_mrtg_optus_hspa_nsw.php it doesn't seem to be there. How is the graph on the sales page bei...

Re: Internet drops out but still connected?

P.S.

And I think the Exetel $30 prepaid for 2GB over 90 days is excellent value!

Re: Internet drops out but still connected?

I upgraded all my drivers. The 'Dell Wireless HSPA Mini-Card Driver' is now at 6.1.13.8. My Dell Mobile Broadband Manager is now at version 2.1.0.0. It reports that I'm connected via 'HSPA' where the previous version reported a '3G/UTMS' connection. I've gone 10 minutes without the connection being ...

Re: Internet drops out but still connected?

Thanks dazzled, I wrote the following batch file :LoopStart ping 127.0.0.1 -n 60 REM Pinging www.l.google.com [66.102.11.104] with 1 bytes of data: ping -n 2 -l 1 66.102.11.104 GOTO LoopStart so I'll amend it to add the 60 second wait time instead of 60 pings to local host :) corey, cheers for the d...

Re: Internet drops out but still connected?

I have the same issue, I'm using a Dell inspiron mini with built in 3G modem 'Dell Wireless 5540 HSPA Mini-Card Modem' it also suffers this problem. If there is an amount of idle time it will then either drop in speed to painfully slow, or just plain stop working. I have found a solution to not rese...

Re: Missing thread :(

It was in this forum, Broadband Over 3/4G because that's f=308

I only wanted to keep it alive because it had the settings I used on my E66 to get it working with Exetel :) Useful info (to me) hehe.
