Re: Fring/NimBuzz Replacement

Hi, thought id post on the experience using the exetel voip software. Very easy to install, very easy to setup and register... just the phone number and password. Finally! Easy to install software! Making phonecalls was easy too, as long as you remember the number, the contacts menu item didnt work ...

Unnecessarily being pointed to blocked.exetel.com.au

Hi, This month I seemed to have been put onto the 'you've gone over the limit, do you accept the excess charges' numerous times. Dispite having the 'yes I want to be shaped' checkboxes ticked in the user facilities. It happened at the start of the month when i had zero usage, and also each day for t...

Re: Police wiretaps

If they really wanted to, they could request Exetel to install monitoring equipment to monitor your connection activity, and using that, they can see sites you visit, and if they log the data correctly, they could rebuild the RTP audio used in any VoIP phone calls. Thanks, so it sounds like the NSW...

Re: Police wiretaps

I guess as a second point, in the past I remember Exetel asking customers if having international VoIP numbers was something they would be interested in. Do the police have the same authority over those international VoIP numbers? Or are they in some weird limbo jurisdiction?

Police wiretaps

Hi, I was watching Lateline on ABC tonight and they had a report on the execessive use of phone wiretaps by the NSW police, having something like 40,000 taps compared to WA which had 250. The police said 'they are a very effective tool' blah blah, but don't require an independent authority to author...

Re: Transfer Your Current PSTN Home Number To Exetel VoIP

Thanks for the answers Paul. Funnily enough the house has two physical lines, the second one isn't used, a relic of a 24x7 dialup connection in the 90's. In this scenario, I think it would make sense for me to transfer the second number to that second phone line. Ask Exetel to transfer the first lin...

Re: Transfer Your Current PSTN Home Number To Exetel VoIP

Hi guys, Are there plans to create a FAQ regarding the PSTN -> Exetel VoIP service? I'd like one :) Anyway, my two questions that I would like to see answered are as follows: 1. After moving a PSTN number to VoIP, what is the process for moving it back? i.e. when Exetel go bankrupt. Can customers as...

Blocked Usage

Hi, I got a "You've been blocked because of usage" webpage on the 18th of Feb. Though from the attachment, I wasn't over. It's the first time I've been blocked when I wasn't actually over the limit :) So if you find a reason why it happened, let me know, otherwise you can put this in your weird bugs...

Todays total bandwidth looks artificial

Hi,

Over at https://www.exetel.com.au/members/a_mrt ... _total.php the graph for today (16/12) seems to be very artificially flat (or maxed out).

Ideas anyone?

Re: ADSL2+ overcharged for going over extra 2gb reserve limit..

Does this mean I get charged a full $6 even if I go over by 1mb of per 1gb or only charged part of the $6/gb (what I've used)?
You will be charged the full $6 per gb or part there of.
1-1000mb = $6
1001-2000mb = $12 etc.

Re: EXETEL ABUSE BLOCKAGE!!!!

I'll speak for the customers who aren't so anal. I think I can vouch for many other users that it is not Exetel's problem. My option for shaping was the same as yours. What line in the contract are you suggesting has been broken? It is a residential "we will do our best" connection. Because November...
