Some of the possible causes are firewalls or antivirus, if you get the same results with the other modem, then see if disabling these makes a difference. Result with NAV off: Tracing route to telstra.com [144.135.19.10] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms HOMEPC.mshome.net [192.168.0.1] ...

Thanks James, i'll try disabling NAV first; seems a likely cause.

Having a 5ms ping to your own equipment (modem) is odd. Are you connected through wireless or direct ethernet connection? Also do you have another modem that you may be able to test? Direct ethernet connection. Yes, i have another modem I can test with. What might cause this 5ms delay to router if ...

Re: Game ping issue - advice needed

G'day Ashlan, To be sure about why pinging Adelaide is better than pinging Perth, I'd need to see trace routes to both servers but I think you'll find that you are right and your connections go via Sydney or the nearest Exetel PoP. If you were to change to ADSL2+ the ping times should stay about th...

Game ping issue - advice needed

I'm in Perth WA on an ADSL 1500/256. I'm wondering about how packets are sent to game servers. I have noticed I get 'very high' pings on the WA GameArena servers (120-130 average) which seems odd, and better ping to Adelaide servers (75-80). On Internode servers I generally get pings of about 80. Th...

Automated Phone Info Service

Hi Team, The automated service you use for many things (connection advice, fault logging etc) is great, but how does a user STOP it calling once the information is received?? It's calling us twic a day every day, without any message along the lines of: ' Once you have this info, press 1 to delete/st...

So its off when it cannot detect a telephone line, orange when it cannot detect line sync. I stand corrected, Ive got a DG814 and DG834G but its been a while since I've used them since moving to Cisco Routers. Try your other modem, if still no go report back to Exetel for further investigation. Am ...

Re: DG834Gv3 issue

Actually Ive found that when there is no sync, the light doesnt even light up. Ive never seen it orange.. Perhaps the new models are different. Next step is to try another modem. Hrrmmnmn, with this model and my last Netgear model, the 'i' LED is orange when there is no line-sync. I'm just reading ...

Re: DG834Gv3 issue

If the i light with the switch underneath isnt lit, then your modem doesnt have line sync. It could be a problem with your modem, but also could be a problem with your line. If you've logged a fault with Exetel, they will most likely log a fault with the carrier for investigation. Thanks CLoSeR. Th...

DG834Gv3 issue

I'm currently using this router and am having problems. My connectivity has been on/off for the last 3 days, and the interesting issue is that the line-sync 'i' light is completely off (not orange) when there is no connectivity. I had contacted Exetel staff thinking it was a network issue, however i...

Hello, This rejection reason means that your line is incompatible at the moment for a ADSL 2+ service. It is suggested that you apply for an ADSL 1 service as Telstra maybe able to change the route that your telephone cables takes to the nearest sub exchange / rim or to main exchange. The link belo...

Great news

This is great news -- i have had the same problem while moving to a new address, and applied for ADSL2. Had the same reason for rejection. I have found a few forums that had said this meant ADSL1 was not an option either -- so you have given me hope!
