Re: Huawei E169 getting really hot

It's probably beyond warranty.
You can get the slower E160 from Optus / Virgin for about $80, so cheaper than from Exetel.

Cheers, Mike.

Re: AuthFailure Billion 7404VNPX

Exetel isn't going to fix this. Or if they do they'll only break it again in six months. It's time to give up and get another Voice Provider, or a different modem. The other VSPs are mostly cheaper and test their upgrades against more brands. Some even allow you to use your PSTN number as your Calle...

Re: What´s Exetel done now? No VOIP

Heheh indeed :) Unless you happen to be on a VoIP call at your 6 hour reset! We have to use them on HSPA routers as it is so the usage meters get updated.

Re: 8 mb plans?

It's hard for Exetel to do unlimited off peak on ADSL1 because they still have to pay Telstra for every Gig that the customer downloads - and on an 8MB plan that is potentially a huge amount.

Re: "View Active Topics" seems broken?

I'm seeing one active topic so far - Western Parrots. Perhaps it's fixed now :)

Re: AuthFailure Billion 7404VNPX

Hi :) I think the Billion issue that was addressed is the seven ring --> busy bug. Not sure if this AuthFailure bug has also been squashed. Sounds like perhaps it is still scurrying around under the server rack somewhere :) I'm not experiencing that problem on my equipment at present (Open 824RLW-4)...

"View Active Topics" seems broken?

Hi :)

Just a note that this forum's View Active Topics link appears to have broken. search.php?search_id=active_topics does not return any active topics.

The agent forum is unaffected.

Cheers, Mike.

Re: VoIP Server down

Just a quick note that we agents have been advised that
The Billion issues have been fixed.
This seems true on my own Billion / Open equipment :)

No further information is available.

Re: NO VOIP Helppppp

From the way you describe it, it's like the modem is not acknowledging you trying to dial a number? To delete the extra entry, select the 'delete' () on the third line then click the edit / delete button. It could also be worth checking the VoIP call log (advanced - status - VoIP call log) to see if...

Re: NO VOIP Helppppp

I assume you've turned the modem off and on again :) Interesting that you have the profile in there twice - you only need it once. (The line named exetel1 is not needed.) You might also be experiencing issues as an incompatibility appeared between Exetel and some Billion modems about three weeks ago.

Unless something's changed, I think John Linton reads the Suggestion Box entries. You could try that when he gets back :)

Re: VoIP Server down

All the Billions I have are combined Modem / router / ATAs so not easy to Wireshark. I've had to move two of my most affected customers and my own service to PennyTel. I guess out of about 50 that isn't too bad, but a lot of them don't realise what's going on yet. There aren't any firmware updates f...

Re: VoIP Server down

Hi Chris :) I guess what I wrote could be misconstrued as saying that the fault is with Billion routers. I'm pretty sure it's a strange incompatibility between them and Exetel, since they work flawlessly with other VSPs such as PennyTel and MyNetFone. Whether it means Billion is not following some p...

A tip for Regular Forum Viewers :) (Auto login)

G'day :) If, like me, you're a regular viewer of this forum; you might be frustrated with having to log in several times a day with your Exetel details. You can automate this process in Firefox using iMacros. (http://www.iopus.com/imacros/firefox/) Some other password manager addins might also autom...

Re: VoIP Server down

Don't worry, Chris. It's not your router. Many Billions are affected in the same way. Exetel doesn't test their upgrades against Billion equipment. Either buy a NetComm branded modem, or change VoIP Providers. There is no other guaranteed safe way to stay with Exetel for VoIP unfortunately. The time...
