Re: Going Lineless

The 7404VGPX seems reliable enough provided sufficient coverage, but like any modem it may occasionally stop working for no obvious reason. If worried, get a computer to ping an external site and play some sound when the internet disappears. If you have a mobile phone, you could also set a divert un...

Re: Huawei E160e Modem and Windows 7

See http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-re ... 83288.html :)

I would recommend Microsoft Security Essentials if the computer is less than two years old, or Avast Free Edition if it's an older computer.

Cheers, Mike

Re: wireless connection to many ppl

Sounds like there might be some manual TCP/IP settings set for the wireless network adapter, or else you might have an incorrect WEP/WPA key. Try running ipconfig on two machines and see if they both have the same gateway address and similar IP addresses.

Re: Going Lineless

I've done a few landline replacements in Guyra using the 7404VGPX. It works pretty well most of the time where there's good coverage. Try a softphone first and make sure it works OK. If it does, then the 7404VGPX will work too. I can't recommend using a separate ATA as they seem to do weird things w...

Re: ExeSMS problem - failed message

It's been like that for a week or two now. I guess the API is changing and they're not testing for backward compatibility. There's supposed to be a new product released on Monday that will replace the ExeSMS we have now.

Re: SMS via HSPA fone

For the last week or two the ExeSMS on Symbian reports an error sending even though it sends the message. Just a heads-up in case you're trying to use something similar.

Exetel fixed it once, but then broke it a week later and left it broken.

Re: to stay or not to stay that is the question

Exetel ADSL may no longer be suitable for you due to cost increases. If you can get HSPA coverage then that might be a better choice now if you want to stick with them; or else it might be time to explore other options :(

Re: VOIP down

I almost never touch ATAs any more. If it's not an integrated VoIP solution, it's too troublesome.

My easy steps to get 1.5 going again are here:

If you want to download 1.5 again I have a mirror here: http://auzzie.net/files/exesms-1.5-setup.exe

Re: ExeSMS1.5, Symbian SMS now broken - false error on send.

Thanks Will :)

Is there any significant risk that Exetel will change how the API works at some point in the near to middle future that will break these older applications, or are the changes likely to be backward compatible.

Cheers, Mike.

ExeSMS1.5, Symbian SMS now broken - false error on send.

G'day :) It appears Exetel has changed something within the SMS API, which has now rendered ExeSMS and the Symbian S60 ExeSMS app broken. Any attempt to send an SMS with ExeSMS will now appear to fail even though the message is (usually) sent. The error for ExeSMS 1.5 is as follows: http://lh4.ggpht...

Re: SMS Facility

Naah my XP machine does the same - opens in Nokia PC Suite's Phone Application Installer. If I right click --> Open With and choose Java, it looks like it's doing something for 5 seconds then silently disappears. Since I've got 1.5 working again I'm not worried about it yet - but yeah it looks like ...

Re: SMS Facility

I wonder if Exetel could change their hosts file / DNS instead? Perhaps the loss of the entire montarotech website might be too much collateral damage, but it would fix the problem for all Exetel customers while connected to Exetel. I'm glad this fix is working well for you all :) Thanks for your ac...
