Re: often get slow speeds on the 28th of month

well my exetel speed test seems fine now (~850 kBps, http://imgur.com/k7QJYj8), but not from others. no matter if those other speed tests are suspect, but i know i'm still getting slow speeds seemingly everywhere else - my mp3 link is still slow, downloading firefox from aarnet.edu.au is still slow,...

Re: often get slow speeds on the 28th of month

Still getting slow speeds after a ~20min modem reset - http://www.speedtest.net/result/2467858769.png

Can somebody fix/reset my connection so I can get proper speeds back, please?

Re: often get slow speeds on the 28th of month

Well I was not getting shaped (I didn't exceed my quota last month). After a 10-15min modem reset, I get speed tests ranging between 310-613 kBps (see below). Once I've finished downloading, I will do a 30min reset and hope that it then gets fixed (I think it usually needs longer than 10min to fix i...

often get slow speeds on the 28th of month

My billing month resets on the 28th of the month, and it often seems that my download speeds slow down a lot on the 28th. For example, this download will normally max out my connection at ~895 kBps, but I'm only getting ~350 kBps now (ranging from 250-500). http://img.bnqt.com/CMS/mmajunkie/assets/r...

Re: slower connection speeds recently

well i'm really liking this new Billion modem (7800vdpx) - i'm downloading at ~300kB/s faster than the old netgear dg834 modem, and haven't had any dropouts for over 2 days (tweak modem snr=1, from -1). so no further assistance required! ********************* MODEM STATS: Line Coding (Trellis) On On...

Re: slower connection speeds recently

i'm happy enough with the connection speed since i know that i'm quite far from the exchange. i was just curious why my connection speeds dropped recently (after i went into the shaping pool - maybe was coincidence?). anyway, thanks for your efforts. ps. the netgear modem is 8 years old, so i assume...

Re: slower connection speeds recently

did some isolation tests tonight. they didn't really make any difference with the old/netgear modem. with modem 3/billion, i see similar stats and faster speeds but that's to be expected since it's a newer/faster modem. ********************** NETGEAR: adsl2 (wed 24/10/2012, ~2230, netgear dg834, iso...

Re: slower connection speeds recently

No, there are no alarms on the line - just modem and 2 telephones.

I'll try unplugging everything else tonight (since I can't unplug phones during day) and see if that boosts the speed again.

Re: slower connection speeds recently

I've also been logging dropouts, in case it's useful. I missed the first few days' worth (28-30 Sep), but here they all are from 1 Oct. Note that the first 10 or so are dropouts associated with my "dodgy" modem, while the remainder are using my old/good Netgear dg834 modem. Radius Server - pistachio...

slower connection speeds recently

New modem died recently, so I've gone back to my old one (Netgear dg834). I currently have slower download speeds than I used to get before - I'm getting ~610 kB/s now, while I used to get 650-680 kB/s before with old modem (and ~750 kB/s with new/dead one). My connection stats are below - both befo...

the itemised list of calls is also missing from my pdf invoice - but it does exist in the "html" invoice.

Re: prevent another phone company taking over

well, i'll just wait and see what happens and hope that there are no "unexpected consequences".

thanks for your quick response.

ps. i would've contacted the other company if i knew which one it was (my dad didn't know and it was a private number).

prevent another phone company taking over

a few hours ago, my dad had a phone call from another phone company (don't know which one) and he gave them some of his details (even though i've told him not to). supposedly the other company might try to change the phone service for international numbers only (but i don't trust them to only try th...
