Re: Modification Of Acceptable Use Policy

i'm sure this will get clarified soon, but i'm just going to stick under the old 60gb limit to be safe.

Re: No reader,news.telstra.net since IP change.

Are there any free news services similar to the one Telstra provided? a bit of a late reply, but i recently started using http://www.eternal-september.org/ for text (nonbinary) newsgroups. you have to register (which is free and instant) and use a "proper" from address for your messages (but any no...

Re: Unusual speed changes

you get 30 free IP address changes, then you have to pay for any more changes you need to make - these changes are useful in case you get banned from certain sites. but there's no need to change your IP unnecessarily.

Re: No reader,news.telstra.net since IP change.

astraweb has 25gb for us$10, which should last you almost indefinitely for text newsgroups. http://www.news.astraweb.com/plans.html

Re: Possible Further Changes To Off Peak Period

Tazz, if you're on the old plan then you'll get the old features (ie. you'll stick with the 54gb limit). if you want the features of the newer plan, then you'll have to change plans (i'm guessing that the extra features on the newer plans are a "carrot" to get people onto the newer plans).

Re: New Layout of Detailed Usage Record

i really hate how every value in the table now has "MB" appended to it - it is bleedingly obvious that the units are in MB, so you're just adding clutter here and not actually making the table easier to read. i wouldn't be opposed to keeping MB in the column totals, but please remove them from the m...

Re: Possible Change To Off Peak Period

i like it as it is. if you change it to 2am-2pm, i think you'll get plenty of unhappy people because they haven't realised that things have changed (i'm sure people won't read the necessary emails, or don't have the correct email address listed). i think it also disadvantages the less-technical user...

Re: Does administrative charge apply?

as far as i understand, if you are on an "old" plan (ie. not one listed on the exetel website currently), then you'll be charged the $3 fee (but no $1.10 credit card surcharge, if applicable). if you apply for a plan listed on the exetel website now, then these plans already have incorporated this s...

Re: uploaded.to speeds

thanks for your response jason. i just wanted someone else to confirm that they were getting ridiculously slow speeds also - you'd expect them to reduce speeds for free users, but dropping it to ~10 kB/s seems excessive to me. i'm not sure why my uni speeds are so high (but i'm not complaining). i k...

uploaded.to speeds

i'm just curious about what download speeds other people can achieve from uploaded.to (free account). i can only get speeds of 5-10 kB/s from my home 1500 connection (but if i download from uni i can get 150 kB/s). i'd appreciate if others could post their download speeds (and connection eg. 512, 15...
