10mbit sync is very fast. You would have to be pretty close to the exchange to get that. I'm 4km away from my exchange, right on the boundary actually, and I get 4.5-5mbit download sync consistently. And I am happy with that. What's really annoying me is there is another exchange only 1km away from ...

Thanks for the replies. Sorry to be a pain, but could I just clarify what I am noticing at my end, in case I didnt make it clear: During peak times I have fast ingress bandwidth and fast egress bandwidth. During off peak times I have fast ingress bandwidth and slow egress bandwidth (even as low as 2...

International speeds are completely useless to use as benchmarks of your connection's speed. They are going to be bottlenecked depending on aggregate, Australian-wide (possibly even Oceania / Asia-wide) traffic going to and from those sites in question. From my perspective, the international websit...

Hello May I ask a question about my speed? I have noticed for the last couple of nights that my http speed tests via the exetel speed meter have been quite good during off peak (the lowest I have observed in the last 48hrs is 1.5mbit). This would suggest that the Powertel link between my computer an...

This is unusual. Which port does this behaviour occur on, and if it is a BitTorrent port, is there a BitTorrent client accepting information on this port? Because even if you are not actively downloading anything, the BitTorrent client may still be doing things like discovering new seeds, updating ...

Hi

Do you have any ports opened for port forwarding? Because I have noticed that as soon as I open a port my modem will continually receive data at a rate of about 5-10kB/sec when the computer is idle. As soon as I close the port the data stops.

cheers

Have your speeds naturally returned to normal? Or are you still experiencing sub-1.5Mbps peak speeds? Peak speeds are holding up tonight. Though I can guarantee you that speeds will be sub-256k as of 11:30pm. I will start some http downloads at that time and leave them going for a few hours so hope...

Definitely.

Please note that I did not start this thread, CoreyPlover has pasted my deleted message into it which I did not ask him to do. I did not intend for that to happen, or to post any messages that would annoy anyone.

What I would like to know is if streaming videos such as youtube, quicktime etc. are being classified as P2P transfers and being shaped in some way. I have been trying to stream one of my uni lectures from an australian uni server using quicktime, which was working fine this afternoon, but this even...

Sudden speed drop

My speed has slowed a lot as of 10mins ago, did some bandwidth restrictions come into effect at 9:30pm?
