HTTP speed poll

Hi all Just wondering if I could find out what kind of http speeds you are getting in the hours after midnight. I would like to know your speed to major http websites. Some examples of "major websites" might be: exetel.com.au tesltra.com.au google.com.au yahoo.com.au youtube.com hotmail.com gamespot...

Any slow speeds you then get to Australian or international sites that are drastically slower than these Exetel speed tests indicate bottlenecks that lie outside of Exetel's network. But what about if you are consistently getting <256k to all the major international servers, eg. youtube.com , downl...

I think the reason for 761kbps being "acceptable" during off peak is in the fine print of the terms and conditions. Try speed testing some international sites, I bet you'll find it's much slower than 761kbps  During peak though, it has to be a minimum of 1536k , so if you are getting less than ...

Re: Ongoing Network Changes

Assuming that the Akamai cluster, PIPE peering and the PeerApp cache deliver the expected additional results over the remainder of March it's planned for the current P2P restrictions to be removed completely because the capacity that P2P was/is 'demanding' will then be provided via those caching so...

1248kbps off peak is quite decent, you mustve done the speedtest to a local server. I'm not sure if I'd use the word "decent" to describe these download speeds for an ADSL2+ connection. I only meant decent during the off peak session to both local and international servers. It would not be acceptab...

Speeds are still absolutely unacceptable off-peak. Can't even stream a YouTube video after midnight. YouTube FFS. Good luck streaming higher quality video or gaming. 1248 kbps I can get faster speed on ADSL 1. 1248kbps off peak is quite decent, you mustve done the speedtest to a local server...

Just thought I would mention another possible cause of speed slowing: too much RAM usage. I found that with uTorrent 1.7.7 , my system RAM would keep getting consumed while downloading , and after a few hours there would be almost none left and everything would become slow. If you keep an eye on how...

I'm not getting "WOOSH" speeds but I have noticed that there has been a slight improvement in the last few days, particularly in the evening peak time.

I have also noticed a slight improvement with speeds over the last couple of days.

Though it's just turned off-peak now and I'm getting <256kbit/sec :(

If I can get 1500k to aus servers, thats great, but if the rest of the world is <512k it's quite pointless really. Not really true. The requirements are that your ADSL2+ connection is capable of 1.5Mbps speeds. This means that if you can get domestic speeds of 1.5Mbps then your connection is, by de...
