Re: Should I be able to get better than 40kB/s in evening or not

Well download speeds are still less than inspiring and I still am yet to get an answer to the simple question posed in the thread title. Test run on 04/11/2008 @ 10:50 PM Mirror: Verizon Data: 3 MB Test Time: 87.15 secs Your line speed is 281 kbps (0.28 Mbps). Your download speed is 35 KB/s (0.03 MB...

Re: Should I be able to get better than 40kB/s in evening or not

I am still getting download speeds of mainly below 30kB/s. The last 3 days have been even worse. I am not impressed by the responses to my query so far. I did not detail my isolation and other testing in my original post because other parts of the post clearly indicated that there was not a problem ...

Should I be able to get better than 40kB/s in evening or not

I have had some problems since roughly when I was changed over to an IP address on the Victorian pop. Much of the evening and night I can't seem to get better than 40kB/s download speeds from overseas sites that used to normally supply speeds over 200kB/s. Often I can't even get better than around 1...

Re: Slow speeds.

I am in Geelong too and have had html download speeds of less than 20kB/s for most of today and yesterday from fast websites and less than 10kB/s for others. Speeds are normally at least 10x that. However, I don't think it is just the Geelong customers affected. There are plenty of other people comp...

Re: slow speeds

I have been trying to download a file this morning, running from 3 different mirrors and I am only getting 9 kBytes/s per thread on an ADSL2+ connection.

Surely this is not acceptable?

Re: Will Regional FAX DIDs be available now

I would want a DID in Geelong too. Geelong is a part of Melbourne in everything but telephone services. I can't find a better place to ask but does the wireline service in the ADLS2+ incphone plans have a call forward feature? I would have thought it should since Telstra's basic phone plans do but I...

Re: I cannot access ANY websites except this one

How is posting that something you reported as "Resolved" actually isn't resolved, non-critical to the issue at hand? It is EXACTLY the issue at hand. I agree. I still cannot access many websites like the Bureau of Meteorology for example and the ones that do come up are slow and don't load fully. (...

Re: Slow ADSL 2 speeds

What a big difference a day makes. From 30KB/s the last few days to over 1000KB/s today.

Hope it stays that way and Optus does not stuff it again.

Optus seem to be a fairly second rate wholesaler. I never thought much of their retail services either.

Re: Slow ADSL 2 speeds

It is 1pm - peak time and I had three HTTP downloads running concurrently with a total of 90KB/s. This is better than the 20KB/s I was getting over night but it is not really acceptable for an Adsl2+ connection. Then there is the slow browsing and page timeouts. Why has there been no response from E...

Re: Is there no warning when quota is reached and passed?

the portal redirection that asks you to confirm whether you wish to continue your usage at $3/Gb is also only activated bi-daily, when the usage meter is updated. Thanks for the reply. Could you please clarify that the portal redirection only occurs for off-peak and does not occur for peak? If so t...

Is there no warning when quota is reached and passed?

This is probably the wrong section to ask this but I could not think of a better one. I have been charged for an excess gigabyte of data for April. I must have gone over just before midnight on April 30. I was under the impression that a warning screen was supposed to appear and ask if I wanted to b...

Just adding something which may be informative. Around 1am Saturday morning during the outage problem I tried test downloading that file out of curiosity. http://debian.mirror.exetel.com.au/debian-cd/current/i386/iso-cd/debian-40r3-i386-netinst.iso I was amazed to see speed over 1500kB/s. I have nev...

Poor off-peak speed from Exetel mirror - Is this normal?

When downloading files external to Exetel in off-peak I often see speeds as low as 10kB/s. Last week was particularly bad. Rarely do I see speeds above 50kB/s. Thursday night in off peak (about 2am) when downloading the following file I was was only getting about 52kB/s. http://debian.mirror.exetel....

No Daylight Saving or computer clock are non-issues here. There were no downloads within a day. As I said, on my side only 1.87GB came through. That figure includes most of my peak usage from the previous day plus all of the off-peak of the offending period. Yet the Exetel usage page shows 6GB. I ha...
