Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old ADSL Plans

The last 8mb port price I heard was around $57.20 (inc GST). Woohoo give me $60 a month + 0 downloads included and $1 a GB usage. browsing the available alternatives there are plenty of companies offering Light usage plans still but no Exetel on the list  http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/bc/?action=...

Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old ADSL Plans

The last 8mb port price I heard was around $57.20 (inc GST). Add overheads, support, data etc, will escalate pretty quickly. I have never called or emailed Exetel for support in 3.5 years. Perhaps my "old" 8192 plan of 12/54 wasn't making much money for Exetel. Goodwill amounts for a fair bit. I ha...

Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old ADSL Plans

Right now I'm P**sed right off mainly with myself for being so slow and not selecting the plans yesterday. Not a question with being slow. We have/had till the end of the month to make the change. THERE WAS NO HURRY. I actually thought that to reduce the impact on Exetel with thousands of changes h...

Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old ADSL Plans

One thing they can do is to increase 10 or 20 dollars for those plans that losing the most, but I think that would cause more objection from those who are affected. Too right it would cause objection! All ADSL1 services cost Exetel more than ADSL2. Some plans apparently run close to (or worse than)...

Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old Plans

If you downloaded 12 gb peak on the current 8192/384 plan the cost would be slightly lower than you pay today. Yes, you're correct. I can download 12GB peak for $63 on the NF8192 plan. This means I could download 22GB off peak as well, for a total cost of $68. The same as I now pay for 12/54. Lucki...

Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old Plans

Unfortunately this change is going to disadvantage those of us who don't have access to ADSL2. I'm currently on an old 8192 plan which is 12GB/54GB for $68 per month. This will now increase to $73 per month. My only option if I wish to stay with Exetel (and I do... maybe?) is to move to the only 819...

Re: Withdrawal Of Free Included Services On Older Plans

...Secondly there are a lot of speed issues with 8192 plans that generate a lot of unhappiness as well as additional costs when those unhappy customers make their unhappiness 'known'. Exetel can do nothing and explain that on the pricing page but so many 8192 people will not accept that Telstra can...

Re: Withdrawal Of Free Included Services On Older Plans

I'm currently on the 8192 12/54G plan. I am unable to get Exetel ADSL2 in Hobart. Whilst the withdrawal of the free monthly SMS's is hardly an issue for me, as I probably average ~6 per month, so 30 cents extra is hardly going to make me consider "jumping ship". But I am concerned that these grandfa...

Re: Configure an E169 for Max OSX Snow Leopard?

"just works" When I'm home I'll try again "Dazzled". I notice that Exetel wirless is even in the OS connection code under country Australia in the Mobile wireless network connection settings, (Nice). But it just doesn't work for me. Will have another look through some posts. Not having any Linux co...

Re: Configure an E169 for Max OSX Snow Leopard?

Crickey!
How messy is it getting the E169 working under MAC? I'm playing around with Ubuntu 9.10 and can't get it to work either. I Like Ubuntu though.
Will stick with XP and Windows 7. Couple of clicks and it just works. Very MAC like actually. :P

Finally! Improved Optus coverage for Tasmania

As reported on ABC TV news Wed evening, Optus are building a further 60 mobile/wireless broadband towers across Tasmania. 6 are expected completed by early 2010 with the others throughout 2010. Outside of a few major cities and towns coverage is non-existent at present, with black spots even in Hoba...

Checking my user facilities, I see I've been assigned a new IP in Hobart. When I get home I'll check the modem IP settings and give it a reboot as well.

Re: Whirlpool Morons Of The Week (2)

I hope you gave him notice of termination? Whingepool is "fairly" widely read. Exetel don't need this sort of incorrect and bad publicity (no matter how small it may be) coming from Whingepool. He may think he was posting annonymously. But got caught out. Too many smartarses think they are annonymou...
