Re: Tasmania Bass Link

How long before I get to churn? Hi felix, I'd be researching an intertim alternative if I were you. June is unlikely to see Exetel back in Tassie on ADSL. Maybe HSPA as an interim. Although the $145 for the modem may hurt a little. Maybe when JL returns from Sri Lanka, he will have a suitcase full ...

Re: Maths Problems

Interesting discussion. In essence I tend to agree with with what datax1969 is saying. The average user not downloading copy protected product would use far less than their peak plus off peak quota per month. Obviously there are many, many exceptions. But if I recal JL saying a few months ago... "Th...

Re: The Exetel 5-year club

I may not be a member of the "5 year club", but after the colapse of Veridas which caused a great little Sydney ISP, Curl Internet to go under, I joined Exetel after recommendation from a collegue on the 29/4/06 (3 years!) Back then I don't think there were that many Hobart users. I couldn't be happ...

Re: Revisions To ADSL1 Plans

Once again these increases seem to be aimed at high end users, rather than medium users. My current plan, the 8192 12/60GB one is crazy. I could see some value such as 15/20, 15/30 or 20/20. But 12/60 is pointless, and doesn't really encourage sensible usage, particularly in the off peak period. The...

Re: Modification To 'Shaping' Option

For those people who queried why it was necessary to implement the changes announced yesterday this is the type of user who no ISP, as far as I'm aware, can afford to have as a customer: Service Number: 035672nnnn Network N-K Status: Exetel VIC N-K Service Plan Name: TELP - 8192/384 - $95.00 - 5400...

Re: Modification To 'Shaping' Option

Personally I would have set the after shaping limit to 100MB. 2GB is too generous. One can do a lot of web surfing and email on 100MB. By the way, 1 GB is 1,000 MB not 100 MB ;-) 2 GB is therefore even more generous than you might think :-) Gidget Actually Gidget I meant 100MB. Not 1000MB. It wasn't...

Re: Modification To 'Shaping' Option

Great idea. Will be "interesting" to read the banter/whinging on the Whirlpool forum. Personally I would have set the after shaping limit to 100MB. 2GB is too generous. Re: Sustaining Growth In Difficult Times Is A Measure Of....

Congratulations, and well deserved! Obviously you have been a little harsh on your belief of how well Exetel has really been performing. This in itself may be part of the reason of the success. Providing your continue with the same business ethics and practices which I think many of your subscribers...

Re: Tasmanian Situation

Well the news is more certain but it isn't good. We had a meeting with Aurora Energy this morning and they advised the Tasmanian Governent will be making an official announcement next week but the likelihood of getting a BassLink circuit operable before May 2009 seems unlikely. Nothing we can do un...

Re: Re:

We'll make speed changes $11.00 up to the end of the month of April. I'm wondering how many users took up this option (Also, how many people took it up, as a % of total users?)? When the 8192 ADSL 8GB plan for $65 was introduced I um'd and ar'd the advantages/disadvantages of moving from 1500/12GB ...

I'm happy with the peak as it is at the moment, but with a warning email (or SMS) at around 95% of the peak quota used. Then the usual $3 GB over. I'd also like an option of reducing the off peak allowance at say $2 per 10GB off your monthly cost, down to a minimum of 10GB. So a potential monthly sa...
