Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

If your modulation is changing to READSL2 then that suggests you are on a long connection (distance from exchange) and/or have high attenuation. This modulation type kicks in with the port attempting to maintain connection stability. I also expect you will find that the Billion 7401 is a contributor...

Re: Per minute plan question - forced to use data?

Feel for you Trev. If I'm not mistaken, there is still free SIM activation for the cap plans as well as the new V plans. Perhaps porting to one of these and then changing to Mobile A later is an option? Maybe talk to the Exetel folk as see what they can do. For me, I'll stick with my port(s) to Mobi...

Re: Per minute plan question - forced to use data?

Mobile A plan is a Voice + data service What! I've just started a port of 4 mobiles from Mobile 1 to Mobile A and I've no intension of using data. I could understand a risk of disconnection if the plan chosen was WP1, WP2 etc which are principally data plans but to subject a voice plan such as Mobi...

Re: Mobile 1 plan change

Hello. Can you provide some idea of how long it will take (is currently taking) for SIM to be supplied? I'm now into second week and yet to receive confirmation that SIM have been sent. I appreciate there'll be a lot of people changing over which might add a delay. Also, how will the 'free for first...

Re: Mobile 1 plan change

Thanks for the reply as it helps to understand the logic behind the change. I was going to ask this and I think I have an answer but would like to double check. With the Optus per minute plans (and indeed the non-zero Vodafone ones) and the minimum monthly spend, if one spends for example $4.50 in c...

Re: Mobile 1 plan change

I have your email; thank you for your reply. I'll need to do the sums as 2 of the 4 phones are essentially unused; it's what we hand to the kids when they take the dog for a walk etc. The other 2 we do use and even then, our total mobile spend across the 4 phones is $10-15/month so comined with ADSL...

Re: Mobile 1 plan change

Is there an Exetel rep that can answer my request for consideration of new $0/month plan; one that lacked Exetel call inclusion if that's required to make it viable? Note I have requested this via the suggestion box also. Also, I have 4 x mobiles on mobile 1 plan. Am I required to move all mobiles t...

Re: Mobile 1 plan change

Hi mart. I'd perfer not to list low cost mobile providers on an Exetel public forum; that's not my intent. My hope is that Exetel would consider a $0 per month plan without Exetel call and SMS inclusions as an option. I should think that viable considering similar plans exist elsewhere. If such a pl...

Mobile 1 plan change

Hello, I have received message advising Mobile 1 plan (Vodafone) is to be removed. Firstly some feedback. The members area does not currently allow me to chose a per-minute Optus plan instead listing just Optus Cap plan choices. What is the time frame to have the members area updated if I choose to ...

Cannot access web site - can someone test

Having trouble of late trying to access web site http://our.flinders.vic.edu.au. It was accesible earlier today following a router reboot but has failed again. I suspect it's DNS as I can access from my work laptop when I VPN into the work network. Family is all connected as well as VoIP in use so I...

ADSL1 8000 has 384 up, so you're on ADSL2.

Re: Off Peak Periods

With the plan I've changed to recently I sort of miss the off-peak period extending into the morning further but really, it's academic as we only use 3-4GB a month total. I would like to use ABC iView which would be during peak period. Maybe you could consider iView as being metered but it counts to...

Possible Optus contract length issue

Hello. I recently submitted a plan change from INCDSL2A to OTA but have reversed this. On the initial page it showed as existing contract, but on completion of the change, the final page then showed in bold text as being a new 6 month contract. I suspect this is in error and perhaps a page intended ...

Incorrect plan pricing in members area

Hello. I note that OTA type plans are now visible within the members area, however, the pricing, that is, the way it is presented is incorrect. When you view the OTA plans via the ADSL2 plan choices (non-members area) plan OTA shows as $20 plus $30 line rental. Uner the members area it shows as $50 ...

Re: SMS cost on Mobile service via ExeSMS

Hi. I have ExeSMS installed on some older S40 based Nokia phones, 2 x 3110c and 1 x 6233. These are on Exetel Mobile 1 plan. We launch ExeSMS, send the SMS and close the application. Doing this we've never had a data charge in the 4-5 months I've had it installed. SMS charges are as per your 'SMS pl...
