Re: VOIP lag on outgoing calls

Introducing Firmware Version 3.64m As with the previous, this isn't an official release. When testing, reset the device to defaults, and then reconfigure again. Please advise if the issues continue using this firmware version. Hmm, I just noticed that 3.64m is available for download from the Netcom...

Re: VOIP lag on outgoing calls

Wow where does all this new new firmware keep popping up from. A technical support ticket I opened with Netcomm, that Jason M is now on. The ball is currently with Netcomm, Jason provided quite alot of information about the fault earlier in the week (alot more technical detail than anything discuss...

It always did. However the lack of customization to the call progress tones and the fact they do not match what is provided from the PSTN - certain modem equipment may be incompatible with this device, such as EFTPOS machines.

I've responded to my ticket with Netcomm/Dynalink - Jason has a copy.

Re: VOIP lag on outgoing calls

A factory reset won't remove installed firmware. Nobody ever said it would. It clears ALL SETTINGS that may not apply to the new firmware version. If you do not perform a factory reset after installing the new firmware, its likely your unit will be unstable, you may not be able to get to the config...

Re: VOIP lag on outgoing calls

I will escalate this to Dynalink after I discuss the firmware results with the agent - it doesn't make sense that he has had success, yet there are different results here. I trust after installing the firmware you've restored the settings to factory defaults? This step is critical. bihal's account ...

Or you can leave it, and it'll do nothing to zilch.

Re: VOIP lag on outgoing calls

Here is a link to Dynalink firmware 3.63z Please test with this firmware - following the normal upgrade process, it should resolve the call audio delay issue. The agent who provided this stated it resolved the issue in all cases. I am the said agent. I forgot to mention to Jason that a 'factory res...

Re: QoS settings for Grandstream HT486

On a side note Simon, how do you find your HT286? My HT486 is appauling, I would not recommend it. The configuration page is very unclear and there are numerous call quality faults, that Grandstream assure me will be fixed in the "next firmware release"... or so they've said the past 6 months... but...

Re: QoS settings for Grandstream HT486

Ahh, I didn't even think to look in the manual. Looks like I'm already tagging for a high priority.

I think my troubles come down to the DIR-300's lack of user-tunable QoS. I'll investigate my options in replacing it with a Netcomm V100 or Dynalink RTA1046VW

Thanks for your aid Simon

QoS settings for Grandstream HT486

Just curious what QoS settings I should have for my grandstream... appears to have 3 fields seen in the following screenshot:

My D-Link DIR-300 has almost no control over QoS... thought if I setup the tagging correctly, it might work a bit better.

Re: Fax Server Downtime - 22/09/2008

Correct - the mail server will hold outgoing faxes in its mail queue, until the fax server becomes available again.
