Re: Not able to get ADLS2 (optus)?

paulp is following up on a few things, which is great. The main concern is that the distance from the exchange is right at the limit, and so a stable connection may not be guaranteed (although it has been stable for last couple of years with iiNet, a change in wholesale provider may tip it over sinc...

Boy that is a good deal (although, it just aligns the offer with this Thread title!). Here's hoping Mum's application gets through.

Re: Not able to get ADLS2 (optus)?

Well, I have applied for OF20 anyway. If that gets rejected, I will go to the Optus fusion $79 product (so $30 more per month than OF20, and 24months instead of 12). I checked with online chat at Optus and the number/address passes their checks. A real shame if Optus wholesale rejects Exetel's reque...

Not able to get ADLS2 (optus)?

Hi All, Bit confused... Looking to get my Mum onto the OF20 Bundle. She currently has phone with Telstra and ADSL2 with iiNet. She is a long way from the exchange, and with iinet gets about 1.5mbps. This is plenty for her needs though. A service check of her number (on Exetel website) says her excha...

Re: adsl tethering

If you mean "Can I access my ADSL connection on my iPhone" the answer is "yes, via WiFi". There is no "3G" involved in this case. If your ADSL modem has an in-built WiFi router - or if you have a WiFi router connected to your ADSL modem - you can access the internet using your iPhone. Your iPhone do...

Re: Off Peak Allowances

We have put three replacement Optus based plans on the web site that are 'couched' in the words/methods used by other ISP providers. Any comments would be welcomed. Well the OCV200 I'm on at the moment still compares favourably with those offers - but I am not your target audience for this 'campaig...

I don't understand that...unless your current plan is more than $59.99/month with less quota than you need?

Re: Optus Provisioning Process Issues

We ported from Exetel Voda to Exetel Optus in Feb this year - there were no issues, very smooth.

Have a scan on Whirlpool - you will see that there are always cases of porting issues for one reason or another, between any carrier. It's unfortunate that you were unlucky on this occasion.

Unless you can get the Personal Hotspot to connect wireless to your wireless router  Not sure if that will work out though.
I wouldn't need my phone to be a personal hotspot if I was within range of a wireless router :P

Re: Options to amalgamate HSDPA plan and Vodafone replacemen

If one has an iPhone, will Extel Optus CAP plans allow the use of the new "Personal Hotspot" functionality? Or is that equivalent to tethering?

Re: Global/International Roaming

If Global Roaming with the Exetel product works the same as with other mobile providers that I have used (Telstra, Three), then global roaming charges don't "kick in" until the phone (actually, SIM) registers with a "foreign" network. ie, you are not "roaming" until you turn your phone on in your de...

Re: OCV200 unexpected, unwanted charges

I'm damned sure there were no such options presented during the package selection process (I would never have consciously selected them) They were definitely on the form when I transferred - and it clearly stated the charges. Agree that it sounds like a billing error that hopefully can be sorted out.

Re: Some basic VOIP questions - "New VoIP Savings from Exete

If you decide to keep your existing PSTN ("fixed line") number and get a separate VoIP number, remember that only outbound calls made using the VoIP service are included in your VoIP call pack. Outbound calls made using your PSTN line will be charged to your PSTN account (whoever that is with - Tels...
