Re: VoIP Dialling Problem

Hi all. Some news of relevance I think. Whilst I do not know why this has become a recent issue, what would appear to be happening is that the calls out take some time to connect. So much so that the ATA is timing out, rejecting the call and generating a local “fast busy” (re-order) tone. Meanwhile,...

Re: VoIP Dialling Problem

I now have 2 ata's sitting in front of me, and both are exhibiting the same problem. To recap: Calling a pstn number returns an engaged signal at my end, whilst the phone will ring at the other end. The person who answers will hear nothing on the phone. Therefore causing maximum annoyance. Sip calls...

Re: VoIP Dialling Problem

Under the 'Provisioning Tab' have you got 'provision enable' set to no, If you have not your PAP ATA may have re-set itself to different settings. The 'provision enable' was set to yes. I changed it to no, and this appears to have resolved the problem. I dialled out about 8 consecutive numbers, wit...

Re: VoIP Dialling Problem

But a quick check reveals that nothing has changed.

There seems some pattern forming. I can make one call, but the next will fail.

Sometimes repowering the ata, or waiting for it to re-register, or just waiting, and sooner or later I can make one more call.

Dazzled wrote:If these problems really are NAT traversal issues, have you tried putting the ATA behind a router DMZ?

Re: VoIP Dialling Problem

Hi Hairygal2, Thanks for your input. I see from the setup guides that RTP port set to 5100 is recommended for the billion. I have a linksys pap2na. I have not yet found any RTP port recommendations for this ata, and I doubt I have ever changed the as delivered settings which are: RTP port min: 16384...

Re: VoIP Dialling Problem

Have had the same problem for the last week. Times two.

Both a friend and myself. As we are running the same router and ATA, I thought there may be something unique to the combination. As there was no one else with this problem. Until now................

Re: 3G issues in Newtown, Sydney

Hi Nathan, The thing is I am probably only 200-300 meters away from the OPTUS tower. At this close range, I would be thinking that almost certainly the problem will not be helped significantly with an antenna. Just to check, the speeds above aren't normal when connected via WCDMA? No. Having said th...

Re: 3G issues in Newtown, Sydney

Do you think if I got an external antenna it would help? (although I had full signal last week without an external antenna) That would depend upon what the problem is. A big advantage with an properly installed external yagi is that it significantly reduces signal strength issues from the list of p...

Re: Fring/NimBuzz Replacement

I seem to have killed off the creative process, which has left me feeling guilty.

So I have given it some thought and came up with ExCellOip.

If it was mine, thats what i would call it.

So where is it? I wanna have a go.

Re: Naming your thing.

Exetalk could be inadvertently associated with Gotalk. I don't think you would want that.

Re: Rural Agents Wanted

CDR-888 has proven to be elusive. Do you have any information that you could forward to me?

Do you have, or can recommend a suitable yagi that I can buy this week?

Re: Rural Agents Wanted

There is a suitable Netcom box available now for around $600.00 (agent price) Well I think I want one. Could you please send me the model number so as I can check what I am ordering? If you can get Exetel HSPA then you can use VoIP to reduce our mobile call rates as well as getting all landline num...

Re: Rural Agents Wanted

I think that could work very well around my region. Not only that, I am well geared up for this type of work. Currently have too much on to effect an immediate start, but I do expect a downturn soon..............So please consider me as an interested (and insured) contractor. But first, what about m...
