Re: Setting up a wireless router with new Exetel connection

My download speed from ozspeedtest.com on my PC is 159 KB/s, but my download speed on my iPod touch is around 100 KB/s, and thats sitting basically on top of the router. Couple of things worth remembering with WiFi: WiFi tends to run on the 2.4Ghz spectrum - many cordless phones use that spectrum a...

Re: VOIP without DID and Caller-id

Am I correct in assuming the VOIP calling card is provided at least in part by a different supplier to the post-paid VOIP services? Who are the respective wholesalers of the calling card and VOIP services? http://www.exetel.com.au/calling-card-info.php It's the same VoIP service. Exetel used to hav...

Re: Off Peak Plans/Restructure

The ambiguity surrounding the offpeak limit slightly damages Exetel's image imo. In my opinion, the only people who would find the lack of a defined limit to be a problem, would be those who want to leave the internet tap running all the time. As ForumAdmin has stated earlier in this thread, Exetel...

Exetel have a calling card service that I believe uses VoIP - I had this for a while, before switching to a Naked plan, and full time VoIP usage.

Check your member's facility for "Manage Services - Calling Cards".

Re: Interest in iPad Plans?

Thanks for that. We will consider. Why can't we just use your current plan HSPA WI E ? $0 per month monthly access charge and 2 cents per MB The only downside is the 12months contract ($100) I would imagine it depends on what the wholesalers wants to charge Exetel - I'd imagine that the HSPA plans ...

Re: Relocation to new House/Phone Number

Bear in mind that Telstra see a relocation as nothing more than a cancellation and a new sign up, and therefor charge Exetel in those terms. To make matters worse, Telstra are charging Exetel for early termination of your contract. Given the very small profit margin Exetel appear to make on resellin...

Re: Wireless Broadband WiFi Modems

Presuming you mean a 3G modem/router that has WiFi included, you'd be looking at something like this Netgear product: http://www.netgear.com.au/au/Product/Routers-and-Gateways/3G-Mobile-Broadband/MBRN3300 I'm sure pretty much any of the major brands would have something similar. As far as compatibil...

Re: Shaping not working, now hit with $50 charge

the shaping option (as i am getting the $6/gb charge) but i am still getting full speed. If you're excess rate is $6 per GB, then the shaping only applies for the first 2GB after exceeding your quota, before being returned to full speed at the $6 per GB rate. This system, as I understand it, was de...

Re: How to turn off voice box?

If this is for the PSTN wireline voicemail service, access the setup menu, I'm pretty sure there is a setup function to enable/disable diverting to voicemail on unanswered/busy/etc. #96 to access voicemail menu 8 for user options 4 for set up options I don't recall exactly, as I moved to fulltime Vo...

Re: General question: Instant payment

Whatever your solution is for (optional) part-payment by customers, is guaranteed to be better than the existing situation of (complusory) full payments on the 1st of the month. I'd be curious to know your reasoning for this statement. I'd imagine that there'd have to be limits, otherwise you may g...

Re: SIM card problem and not receiving the replacement

Hi, Ok, after about 2 weeks we received the replacement sim card but it's inactive. would you please activate the sim card? I could be wrong, but isn't that something you do yourself through the user facilities? Edit - just had a look - I don't have a mobile service with Exetel, but if you click on...
