Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

I am about to do port forwarding on my modem/router - NETGEAR DGN2200 and I noticed that in order to do this, I need a static IP address. At present DHCP is enabled? Is this correct? Should I make 192.168.0.1 the static address? (default IP address)

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

The line cable is connected to the base of the phone handset and phone port is filtered. I haven't done any port forwarding as yet. QoS is unchecked as per modem/router default and we don't do heavy downloading at all. However, all lights are on and registered.

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

Not sure why we can't make voip calls. We have all the green lights. Received the 'sucessfully registered' message from Exetel. Do I have to go to my modem and enable NAT or QoS ? My modem's IP address is 192.1678.0.1 and ATA is 192.168.0.5 set at DHCP.

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

Now that we have registered successfully with Voip, before making any calls, do I have to reconfigure my modem? Or can I leave it as it was previously before applying for Voip?

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

OUr phone service is back on. We have just registered successfully with exetel Voip. But can we start using it straight away, because when we go to dial a number, there is no dial tone. Also, our power and SIP lights on the ATA are green but orange on the ethernet. Is there something we have missed ?

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

How many cables should we be using to connect the ATA? Only 2 cables came with it: 2 straight-through cables , one blue and the other yellow. We have one connected to our PC (back of tower) and the othe connected to our modem/router. We connected the filtered cable to our ATA. I feel we are missing ...

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

My ATA V210P has arrived. Is it correct that Exetel charges $5 per month for the Voip Service and the billing cycle is 16th of previous month to 15th of current month? If that is the case, should I wait till 16th to configure, as I would be horrified to be billed $5 for just one day (left of this cu...

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

thanks Steve and Dazzled for your replies. I do recall that link for setting-up voip and I have a hard copy of it. I'm not sure if I have to enter a Codec or if it's already set to default by Exetel. If I have to enter one, I believe the optimal ones are G.711 or G.729. Any preferences or should I l...

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

When purchasing the v210p from outside of Exetel, will the user names and passwords be contained with the product or do they have to be obtained thru' Exetel? Before configuring the ATA, do I still have to let Exetel know or can I go ahead and configure, then let Exetel know I'd like to have Voip?

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

I'm not sure whether I'm doing the right thing but I think I will search online for a Nettcomm V210P. I have seen some going for less than $70. If we didn't have a router already, I would have considered an all-in-one, but our router is only 3 months old and its working really well. Any reason why t...

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

How do I know which DID number to select: Looking at the regions available, I am closest to Sydney, so do I just pick any DID number in that region? I'm a bit confused about these numbers. I thought my VSP provider would give me the most reliable and convenient and secure DID number.

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

What a pity that the Exetel V210P is no longer available as it was quoted to be around $70. Has it been replaced by something else ? I'm wondering if it's been discontinued everywhere or only with Exetel? If I purchase a similar type ATA from a computer store, will it be okay and compatible to use w...

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

I know that one of your ATA recommendations was the Netcomm V210P, but upon looking in the Exetel Voip sales form, I noticed that it isn't listed. Has it been replaced or am I looking in the wrong section? I noticed there was a C610P hardware but extremely overpriced.

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

We have that filter-splitter as shown in your link - http://media.netcomm.com.au/public/..... I looked at our filter and yes, we have one port filtered and one port unfiltered and correctly connected (one to the phone base and one to the ADSL port of the modem). Our Modem has 4 ethernet ports, 1 ADS...

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel

At present, I have a splitter with 2 ports. One of the ports has a cable that is directly connected to the phone base. It is a white coloured cable that is attached to the splitter. The other port on the splitter has the the ADSL cable that is connected to the modem. As there are only 2 ports on the...
