Re: Looking at changing plans

.......... It becomes a case of "damned if you do, damned if you dont". If they overquoted (and reverted back to "24000/1024" they might be (as they were) accused of deliberate or deceptive misinformation. If they quote "18000/900" they might (as you have) confuse users who think they are getting a...

Re: Looking at changing plans

Well gee Dedazzled, you really don't have much faith in the service do you, lol. ( rhetorical ) I keep in touch with many non exetel users in our district and none of them come close to what we achieve, even those closer to the exchange. I keep a close eye on how things are working, doing exetel and...

Looking at changing plans

G'day, Over the past few days I've been looking at changing plans. We are current on an old Telstra plan TE-2D and looking at moving to the T20-4-R. When we first signed for the current plan our "Current Line Speed" was listed at 25000/1024. Now it is listed as 18000/900, as per Exetel's information...

Re: Continual Dropouts - over last 6 months

Thank you NadunH and Dazzled, Continuing to bring machines in and out. After net investigations and a lot of reading, I changed from PPPoA LLC to PPPoE LLC - seems to have stabilized things somewhat, nowhere near the number of dropouts and a minor increase in D/L speed, but nothing to crow about (ye...

Re: Continual Dropouts - over last 6 months

As per the discussion we had earlier today, please monitor for any further drops and update us after 24 hours. Thanks Nadunh. Below is what happened following our phone conversation which ended at approximately 1315 local time. Following that is a response to shoner re a question I asked in another...

Re: Continual Dropouts - over last 6 months

Just had 2 more dropouts. Did 15 min power off reset Exetel Speed test = 6.18 Mbps (1st), 8.63 Mbs (2nd).... Terrible for an ADSL2 connection. Not even close to what it is supposed to be and our previous achievable D/L rates. Using other speed test resulted in achieving abt 10Mbs, but still, ...

Re: Continual Dropouts - over last 6 months

My first guess would be the router (they drop on full buffers), but since you have tried two, is there any possibility that your machines run Vista? I remember networking hassles at the time. 2 main machines are - iMac running both Win7 64bit in Boot Camp, Mac Lion and Win7 32bit in Parallels... An...

We are glad that we were able to sort this out for you. I will pass your gratitude to ShaminG :)
And what are you (Exetel) doing regarding staff training and your procedures to ensure that what has happened to 'havachat' DOES NOT happen again?

Continual Dropouts - over last 6 months

I have reported this problem over and over again. I have carried out ALL the tests required by the emails sent to me but continually get ignored. This has been going on for about 6 months for goodness sake! Have tried 2 different modems (Netgear and DLink) and dropouts continue. Seems to happen cons...

Re: Totally lost :(

I was a bit quick when I bought it Dazzled, like you I kept sending gobble-de-gook to people with my old numpad phone, so went searching for new phones for Boss (SWMBO) and myself. When Boss saw the tiny KB she flipped, so I got her one of those touchscreen jobs. Didn't bother doing full investigati...

Looks like time to give it the flick and find another one.... Fair dinkum, how do these mugs get away with advertising and sell...
