Re: Service connection lost intermittently

Unfortunately spoke to soon, after 3 days 11 hrs experienced PPP disconnect and reconnect and has occurred 48hrs later again. Is occurring less frequently with TL-WR1043ND. Is it possible for Exetal to test line again and if negative contact wholesaler to check things at their end. PPP debugging log...

Re: Resolved

Just reporting back. Drop outs were PPPOe diconnects. Router wasn't actually rebooting, But PPPOe diconnects /reconnects were disruptive to VOIP if being used. Problem seemed to be Modem/router specific. TP-Link TD-W8960N Line test negative, drop outs persisted. problem persisted with another TD-W89...

Re: Service connection lost intermittently

take all that back, SPA8000 turned off and dns query failed twice with PPP connection lost once - all happened today between 1-2pm (hottest part of the day). May need to check temps and place unit for better cooling.

Re: Service connection lost intermittently

Isolation test showed stable connection over 48hrs with TD-W8960 connected directly to phone line (no central splitter). hooked back in everything behind splitter and problem recurred with PPP connection loss x3-4/24hrs, turned off SPA8000 (voip box to allow PBX outgoing lines via VOIP) and no drop ...

Re: Service connection lost intermittently

Can you confirm that these dropouts happened when your modem was connected directly to the telephone wall socket, using a telephone cable no longer than 2 meters, with no other devices like telephone, filter/splitters, back to base alarm, central filters etc. connected to it? connected adsl modem d...

Re: New Connection Issue. Can anyone help?

enable logging under management/systemlog/ configure system log/log level and display level = debugging for local. and reboot modem and look at system log for more detail about whats happening ( can log to an external syslog daemon for ongoing logging as internal modem logs are limited) also look at...

Re: Service connection lost intermittently

Thanks

Stats now
ADSL_2Plus
SNR D/L 12.3/15.5
Attenuation 29.5/15.1
Output power 13/10.6
Line rate 13400/753

So significant increase in download SNR from 6 to 12 for 20% reduction in download rate by changing profile, hopefully service will be stable now. Will continue to monitor.
thanks for help

Re: Service connection lost intermittently

I have also created a ticket (4722459) and commented the results. Please monitor the connection further and let us now if the dropouts continue. Logged in and viewed ticket history , but no 4722459 - last ticket entry was 14 days ago. is there somewhere else i should look to find ticket 4722459? th...

Re: Service connection lost intermittently

In order to check the possibilities of changing the profiles, could you please PM your service number as requested in the previous post PMed service number (again - originally to shoner- this time to stevecJ) thanks for all those comments. Re: Service connection lost intermittently

Googling seems to suggest that “dns query failed” in the modem syslog could mean poor adsl connection rather than DNS server problems. Looked at ADSL stats Problematic exetel site 1 (3-4km from exchange)shows ADSL_2plus SNR D/U 6/14.5 Attenuation 29.5/15.2 Output power 1.2/10.6 Line rate 16381/791 D...

Service connection lost intermittently -solved

One of my ADSL exetel connections seems to lose connection and will reconnect but sometimes in the process will lockup or just lose vpn/voip connection. Been looking at syslog of TP-Link WD-8690N modem and this seems to be related to : dns query failed and then sometimes ppp connection lost and chan...

Re: can't ping default gateway ?significance

follow up:

exetel support arranged for the line provider to fix something at their end. No further problems with stability / lockups here. still not able to ping default gateway , but apparently this is not an issue.

can't ping default gateway ?significance

First lockup in 5 months, had to reboot modem, Now noticed can't ping default gateway 58.96.3.210 via cmd and modem diagnostics. This is not the situation previously Now have a 58.96.3.x default GW and 58.96.3.x primary dns server whereas it was a pingable 58.96.3.x default GW and primary dns server...
