Re: ADSL Plans/$10 - $25 Per Month Discounts
They are sounding very competitive. I think the $49 Optus plan at an effective price of $20 should be pretty popular. Not sure if there is any point offering the 19.95 (9.95) plan though as the effective price of the $29 plan is the same when all discounts are taken into account - could be useful in...

Re: ADSL Plans/$10 - $25 Per Month Discounts
It's hard to tell exactly what is being considered here. As others have mentioned, its hard to beat TPG if you want a cap plan without the need for a new mobile. The TPG $19 cap that my wife still uses used to be near identical to Optus $49 cap. Comparisons are a bit more difficult now because the 2...

Re: ADSL2 Off Peak Downloads
Why did Exetel go away from the NF plans? Surely a defined off peak allowance with a charge for overuse is the best solution for all involved? The leechers pay their way, and the price set for the limit provided (hopefully) allows for a user to use their allowance without sending Exetel broke. I'd ...

Re: ADSL2 Off Peak Downloads
One problem with naming a limit is that many people see a "limit" as a "target" and actually increase their usage to match. And some people see not having a limit as a target to download as much as possible. IMO Exetel should pick a number they can live with, publish it so everyone knows the rules ...

Re: old Z/20NOTEL plan vs new ONA plan
Look at it this way - you are no worse off than had they not released the new plans. If you think its a better deal switch to it (you save your $10 in less than 2 months). Regarding your question about whether there are any advantages of the Z plan over ONA, I think it has a longer off peak period -...

Re: Why have ADSL2+ plans on Optus become so expensive?
$65.00 for line rental, and broadband is a great deal, few others come close to our offerings. Actually, I think there are a number of providers below or at this level and several more that "come close". That being said I agree that it is more a case of old plans being cheap than the new plans bein...

Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old Plans
I'm surprised that: a) these plans were found to be unprofitable so quickly; b) the same $ increase applies to all plans regardless of base cost . When Exetel sets a plan price it does so on the basis of the then current costs for the port, the connection from the customer (as an average), the amou...

Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old Plans
I'm under contract on the $40 5GB naked plan introduced late last year. At that time exetel were cheaper than the more well known providers of naked DSL at that low usage level but now with the $5 increase to $45 for new users and presumably me when off contract, exetel is about the same when you ta...

Re: Wireless Internet Included In ADSL Plan Prices
Personally I prefer a pay for what you use model to bundling things in at a higher price. I don't need a back-up wireless account now but if I decided to get one I would be interested in a separate service that has a very low or zero monthly cost and reasonable costs of downloads. A pre-paid wireles...
