Re: Virgin Prepaid Mobile Broadband starter kit and Exetel SIM
It just works in most non-Windows systems. With Windows drivers (as supplied in the modem) it usually works if you start a new profile rather than alter one. Ahh yes, thanks, I should have said am trying to get it running using WIndows (Vista). My other friend who I talked into this setup has Mac s...

Re: Virgin Prepaid Mobile Broadband starter kit and Exetel SIM
Have entered APN, username, password in the Virgin modem utility, however, a popup that says "Unlock the data card" and "Please enter unlock code". I cancel the popup and try to connect to exetel anyhow but am told (in bad English) "you can't connect before register an available network" CoreyPlover...

In my case I know definitely didn't ring because the other person was in the room with me.toast wrote:Regarding the no ring tone thing. Sometimes I've rung someone and there wasn't a ring tone, however their phone was ringing and when they picked up everything was fine.

Re: HSPA VoIP Performance
I can't even make calls to an actual full Optus mobile user! No ringing tone whatsoever. Exetel said they would call Optus about it but I never heard back from Exetel (probably because Exetel never heard back from Optus). Another Exetel user JasonM kindly tested this number with his own HSPA service...

Re: HSPA VoIP Performance
seem to be saying that he has an Exetel HSPA service but that he doesn't have an Exetel VOIP service (rather, he uses p****tel). He said he is using p****tel for VOIP via his exetel HSPA sim. Unless he has another SIP server (unlikely) it means he is using exetel SIP server (but I will confirm with...

Re: HSPA VoIP Performance
Yeah, nice to be able to use the native client. Not that I have(?) one on my Nokia 6120 classic. I was selling the concept to a mail-list of friends then got an email reply saying the same as you: >> I have the same Exetel HSPA account. My Nokia E71 has a VoIP client >> built in. I use it with a p*...

Re: HSPA VoIP Performance
Hi all, Just quickly reading comments above. I have a nokia e71 and spent over 18 months playing with mobile voip and the exetel app including fring, nimbuzz etc etc etc. Call quality is soooooh dependant on issues surrounding internet bandwidth, useage at that time, latencies etc etc that I have o...

Re: HSPA VoIP on Nokia E75
I find that it doesn’t quite get to the point where my phone actually calls the number. Same happens to me now with Nimbuzz. I don't have this problem with Fring. Fixed it. Needed to remove the +61 prefix on the outgoing call. Today was not working. Just said "Setting up call to 02912345678"... unt...

Re: HSPA VoIP Performance
I looked up fring on exetel wiki pages and used those settings for nimbuzz. Didn't touch the proxy settings (maybe I set them last month for fring, I can't recall).McMark wrote:Also Sqggl could you reveal your sip input settings please.

Re: HSPA VoIP on Nokia E75
Fixed it. I found the lag (delay) using Nimbuzz to be less than when using Fring - you might like to post your experience once you've tested Nimbuzz a bit. I did post, but as an "edit" rather than a repost. I don't spoze an "edit" notifies those who are subbed to this thread. So far so good. I will...

Re: HSPA VoIP on Nokia E75
Thanks Gidget & Jokiin for educating me. I find that it doesn’t quite get to the point where my phone actually calls the number. Same happens to me now with Nimbuzz. I don't have this problem with Fring. Tried to call my landline just now and get: Setting up to call sqgl then, soon after, Call Ended...

Re: HSPA VoIP Performance
Vphone will be my next stop if the native sip voip app doesn’t work. Huh? I thought we had to use fring if we wanted VOIP+SIP on mobile phone using an exetel HSPA plan. The Vphone site was not clear on this. But it did point me to another interesting site that give you *free* two minute phone calls...

Re: HSPA VoIP Performance
thanks for the response. I have the sip voip app installed and settings added. I havent checked to see if I have the latest firmware though. The other problem that developed (which forced me to delete the settings ) was that my phone then started freezing and acting erratically. Mark I bought nokia...

Sorry, false alarm. I had mixed aphanumeric password and didn't hit shift key. Works fine.
