Thanks to exetel. It was resolved quickly. It was the building work up the street who had driven over the pit - at least according to the Telstra guy. EDIT: actually, my service has now ground (almost) to a halt. Not sure why. I have a good sync. Might be another issue. EDIT 2: seems it was my phone...

I'm having terrible drops out now. I cant connect. Logged in via the mobile at the moment.

The optus engineers are coming tomorrow, so glad I escalated it last week when it was only really a minor problem.

I keep having problems in Wollongong as well. Connection drops out.

Did this have anything to do with Telstra outage today?

I'm pretty sure it's been fixed, because my dsl sync has come up at the (old) normal speed. So, thanks for all who helped and answered my (frantic) questions and demands.

Just had a call from Optus Servicestream. They are sending out a technician, but it's not until next Tuesday!

There is only one technician and he only works 2 days a week. It's a slow response.
