Re: VOIP down...again...authentication failure

Hopefully Exetel isn't prone to change the actual IP address too often. It has never changed. There seems to be a bit of confusion here... https://www.exetel.com.au/members/voip_setup.php in both soft phone and ATA instructions says to use the address sip1.exetel.com.au. I have had a few dial I/O i...

Re: Ugly webpage and bad design

The Member Facilities page is the worst web page I have ever seen. Sorry but I disagree, I find the page logical and well set out. Exetel have provided a suite of user tools that do the job. It may not be heavy on designer graphics etc but my experience of web designers has taught me to avoid flash...

Check your spam folder and also your email address in user facilities for notification.
I got three emails giving me heaps of notice about the pending change and all went very smoothly at my end :)

Re: Forwarding incoming calls

Can you please explain in detail how your call forwards were set up? I have a Sydney DID that is associated to a V210P ATA and this is linked to my PSTN number. I also have a Perth DID that is setup in X-Lite, so as long as my main PC is on (Which is 24/7) then calls to the Perth DID were forwarded...

Re: Forwarding incoming calls

Since I activated my voip some months ago I have had it set to forward all calls to my land line. It has worked fine up to now. I have been doing the same with a Perth DID forwarding to my Sydney number, great for mum to call. Have had this working for 18 months, I tested it this evening and whilst...

I would suggest you email residentialsupport@exetel.com.au or at http://helpdesk.exetel.com.au and lodge a fault ticket.
The fact that your connection is seasonal does point to a line fault.

I have checked my filter, it is EM1100.
The EM1100 is ADSL2 OK but it is a single line filter. If you want to run a phone and ADSL off same outlet you need the EM1500

Yes its the first modem I had for ADSL2 and it is still my backup modem. If you are planning to use VOIP the V210P has worked for me with this. :)

edit: Just check that your splitter/filter is a EM1500 (or other ADSL2 OK unit).

Re: Unable to leave a message on an answering machine

I have had this issue on both VOIP and PSTN systems. Many answer systems have a signal presence threshold that stops recording when there is not enough level coming in. A lot of VOIP systems use noise cancelling software that 'gates' out base or background noise, this reduces bandwidth and is part o...

retroz, have your manually set DNS to exetel? Are you linked to your modem via USB ethernet or wireless?
Try going through an isolation test and eliminate any possible cable or outlet issues. :)

Re: Unexceptable Speeds Hilton Exchange W.A.

No im not going to log a ticket or detail my hardware as its total waist of my time as the speed test on Exetels ówn server tools are so inconsistent you simply cant use them as a guage. I am used to getting 6500-7000kbs for many YEARS Retroz if you have achieved 6.5 to 7 before off the same exchan...

Re: Non-stop repeating slow speed problems

Over the last 8 weeks now the line speed here has been horrendously inconsistent. studio34 I assume you have followed the basics steps: http://www.exetel.com.au/c_slowdownload.php Have you checked or changed all your cables? Is there any noise on the phone line? Have you logged a fault ticket? Is t...

Re: Exetel International VoIP Pack & Enhanced VoIP Features

oblong. it appears that Verizon (Exetel's VOIP provider) is a US based company and that this option violates some US laws. As a result this option has been withdrawn for the mo whilst it is being worked out? I understand that with 911 and issues of security, caller ID has become an issue. One possib...

Re: Exetel International VoIP Pack & Enhanced VoIP Features

Exetel are appealing/escalating with them on the basis that it should come under Australian telco regulations with the appropriate customer authority of course. Corey thanks for the link...I do hope that Exetel get Verizon to see the light and apply Australian Law in Australia even if they are an A...
