Cannot send email with Outlook

I am using Windows XP and Office 2003. When I have configured Outlook, I can receive emails, but cannot send them. All my emails stay in the Outbox. When I use Tools/email accounts/change existing/Change/ Test account settings, an email is sent automatically and received saying that Outlook is working successfully. I have used the same pop and smtp setting successfully with Eudora in the past.

If I then go to More Settings/ Outgoing server, the box is unchecked for "My outgoing server (smtp) requires authentication"

Can anyone please advise where I am going wrong?

What's your email address and what's the outgoing server setting in outlook?
