Email not available outside exetel network?

Post by rseydler » Thu Oct 07, 2010 1:33 pm

Hi,

The last email my phone has been able to pull is from the 5th so I am guessing that we can no longer get emails from external ip address?

TIA

Confirmed on my phone HTC over Optus and wifes iphone over vodafone. If the iphone is hooked to the wireless router it gets email successfully.

Very weird.

can receive from anywhere, only sending is restricted to the Exetel network, maybe double check your setup

If you have trouble hopping between networks, one easyish solution is to get a gmail address, get it to fetch your other email, and get it to impersonate that other email address. Their outgoing server uses SSL so it gets around ISP-level blocks for email sending. (And it kills your SPAM and reduces attachment sizes where appropriate etc.)

hi there, i had the same problem when outside of my home network on my laptop. i found that setting my outgoing mail server to mail.bigpond.com allowed me to send emails from an external location. not sure if the bigpond one works everywhere, or only on a bigpond network however.
