Sending email failed.

Post by BigPete » Wed Jul 03, 2013 10:33 am

Hi.
Had this problem with sending e-mail with an attached file that is about 25mb.

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
552 Message too large - psmtp

I've left out the addresses, how can this be fixed so I can send this message & attachment.

thanks.

Unfortunately the attachment size is too much.

" SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:

Default limit for the sending email attachment is 8MB.

BigPete a couple of simple work-arounds:
1) If you have a free webspace, put the file there and email the URL to your recipient for him to download;

2) Split the file and send it in bits for the recipient to reassemble. Most OSs have a file split function. If your's doesn't, zip the file into a split archive and send the zip parts separately. Zips will be rebuilt automatically. Split files can be reassembled with the copy or cat commands.

Hi.

Thanks guys, I talk to the guy that I sent it to and he said that there server has a limit on file sizes I didn't know about.

It's an mp4 file, I did try an zip it but it didn't make a difference anyway he's sending me a flash drive to send it to him.

I've got a photobucket account so I might try and put it there see if that works.

thanks, anywho.
