Didn't hear anything, but adapting the widget would be dead easy if a text-only usage page is made available (like this one: https://www.exetel.com.au/members/usage ... m,password).

Acutally no, I'm looking for the plain text usage page for wireless users, the equivalent of https://www.exetel.com.au/members/usage ... m,password for ADSL users. This is not the same as the monthly usage query https://www.exetel.com.au/wireless_logi ... r,password. The monthly query doesn't help me as I don't use wireless, so I'm unable to access that page to see the format of the usage data.

Gidget, is there a plain-text page of usage data for wireless users, i.e. *not* the monthly usage query?
For what it's worth, I'm a Mac user on Exetel wireless, so we can't be all that rare...

Back on topic; Tamar, I've uploaded a copy of what the exetel wireless usage_monthly_query page looks like with a valid login/pass. Hope it helps. It's at:

http://home.exetel.com.au/cowsmightfly/ ... _query.php

This page is the response to;
https://www.exetel.com.au/wireless_logi ... R,PASSWORD

I know it's not nice clean text, but I hope it's useful.

Good luck!

Hi Tamar

I emailed a couple of people at Exetel about it last evening, but haven't heard back yet. I'll post here when I do.

Cheers

Great widget! Thanks for this!!

One small thing, though: I was wondering how complicated it would be to indicate graphically how much of the month had passed by? There is an aaNet/Netcall widget with a two pixel wide bar running across the bottom of the main bar(s). It's quite convenient for seeing how on-track your internet usage is for the month. E.g. http://phoenixonline.co.uk/widgets/aane ... s/head.png

Cheers,

I think that would be a great idea. Though I can't speak for other users, I like to spread my usage based on how much time left until the next month. Thanks Tamar!

Just in terms of functionality, there's a pretty good Firefox plugin called Net usage that displays some more useful statistics. In addition to graphically indicating how much of the month has passed, it also displays how much potential bandwidth remains for the month in kB/s, and also how much your pro rata deficit/surplus is for the month, both in terms of Mb and in days. Unfortunately I don't use Firefox, but it'd be awesome if the dashboard widget could incorporate these features!
Cheers!

New version using Exetel's XML usage data and Quartz Composer to display graphics. This version displays a bit more info about data usage and remaining (but still limited due to screen space constraints). Users of previous versions might need to delete the widget and widget preferences file manually and empty trash before installing.

Cheers for your effort Tamar. Afraid the new version is a no goer for me (OS X 10.5.6, Intel). System log simply has:

DashboardClient[354]: could not initialize a widget /Users/liteyear/Library/Widgets/Exetel Meter.wdgt/
[0x0-0xc00c].com.apple.dock[231]: 2009-04-24 21:12:44.432 DashboardClient[354:10b] could not initialize a widget /Users/liteyear/Library/Widgets/Exetel Meter.wdgt/

Tried deleting Widget and pref file and reinstalling, but same issue. Any debug info I can provide?
