NB9W Firmware update

Post by Ford Zephyr » Thu Apr 03, 2008 6:07 pm

I have been having quality problems and drop outs on VoIP and the recommended fix is to download the latest firmware from Exetel or Netcomm. NB9W-C211-S306NCM-C04_R02.bin downloads but when I try the firmware update I get the following message inside the http://192.168.1.1 web page.

"DSL Router Update

Image uploading failed. The selected file contains an illegal image."

Can anyone please shed any light on this?

You can try downloading the file again and trying it again.

Alternatively, you can try reseting the modem to factory default settings and re-try the firmware upgrade, or perhaps make sure that you disable any software / third party firewall that may be interfering with the upload of the firmware from your computer

I assume firmware updates are done via web browser on the NB9W? It might be worth trying via another browser, or, at worst, IE on a PC...

Are you trying to update via WiFi or ethernet? Some routers don't like being updated via WiFi, in any case via ethernet is a much safer option when it comes to firmware.

Please ensure that you are using the correct firmware image for your device.
