Using a Modem at more than one location? + more tech. quest.

Post by Graham C » Thu May 29, 2008 11:23 am

I remember plugging in a modem configured for an exetel account at a different address to the account it was configured for and it just worked (the adsl at the second address also being exetel). My easy question is: in this case who is the data attributed to - the account of the physical location or the account in the modem handling the connection?

On a more technical note. What happens if you plug two adsl modems into the same adsl line? What I'd like to do (temporarily) is run two completely independent networks each drawing their internet access from a separate modem plugged into the same adsl phone line. Is this possible?

Ok, first what ever log in is used is the account that gets the usage.

I have attempted to run 2 different ADSL modems on the same line and it is not possible. Only one DSL connection / device and be added per line.
