Exetel Throttling/Blocking Xfire

Post by Zaul » Sun Feb 08, 2009 8:49 am

Firewalls Down, Ports that are required are opened ( and then some ), And Internet Speed is Normal.

However it seems theres a problem with X-fire, None of my friends ( On various other ISP's ) have this problem, it just always seems to be me.

Constant Disconnecting, High Latency Detected, It's nearly impossible to use.

Is Exetel aware of this and are any plans to fix this being sorted out? X-fire isn't P2P, I don't even think you can share files or pirate anything on it, it's just a simple in game chat program.

Thanks

What ports and protocols have you forwarded for XFire ?

Do you use any QoS configuration in your network?

25777 - 25999 UDP

I don't believe we use and QoS on our network, but I'll have to double check.

How often and what times do you observe the disconnections?
Do you have any other high bandwidth traffic, such as P2P running?

No High Bandwidth P2P Traffic, Usually just on Msn browsing the internet.

The Disconnections are constant, every few seconds, any time of the day. 4am is the same as 4pm.
Sometimes It wont even log in , it just has a heart attack 'connecting'.

I'm testing this and I am yet to see a drop out - I have logging enabled and will monitor to see if this issue occurs.

The FAQ shows only port 25999 UDP is used for communication / login, however, I have done the same - port 25777 - 25999.
If you like, post or PM when you notice the issue occurring.

Thanks Jason, Running now, I'll post the times of the drop outs when I catch em.
It mainly logs out, then sits there going reconnecting, for about 10 minutes, then it cuts out just sits on the title screen.

I'll double check my firewall settings.

Seems to have made a complete 180 after 12:00 mid day.

Not sure what to say, Perhaps in the Midnight - Midday period it gets slowed down by accident?
