mysql database on hosted web space

Post by ercatli » Tue Nov 17, 2009 10:45 pm

I have a website running on the hosted webspace which comes with my ADSL plan. The site includes a forum which has set up a mysql database to store the forum information.

If I want to add some separate database information, can I have more than one mysql database? I recall somewhere seeing that I can only have one DB, but I can't find that now.

Assuming I can have only one DB, does anyone see any problems with simply adding another table or two using phpMyAdmin? The tables won't connect in any way to the forum DB tables, but I wouldn't have thought that would be a problem.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

You can only have 1 database as this is all we provide.

You can very well use more tables or even a better suggestion to prefix each table to easily know whats its for.

eg. phpBB forum tables are typically prefixed, phpbb_ .

Thanks for helpful and prompt response. It confirms what I thought, but it is good to be sure.
