Exetel DNS servers

Postby phelum on Sat Oct 15, 2016 5:47 am

Hi,

I'm using 220.233.0.3 and 220.233.0.4 as my DNS servers. More than 24 hours ago I changed some domain name zone records and these changes have still not appeared in 220.233.0.3. They have (this morning) appeared in 220.233.0.4.

These servers seem to be very slow to update. Is this the way it's meant to be ?

Cheers,
Steven

As per to the sys admins, usually it takes from 24 to 48 hours to update. If the records are still not properly appeared, send an email confirming the details to hosting@exetel.com.au

But surely the TTLs in the zone entries should be taken into account here. If my name entries had a TTL of 43200 (12 hours) then shouldn't the Exetel name server check when a DNS request is received after that period ?

Also odd was that 220.233.0.4 updated at least 12 hours before 220.233.0.3. This just doesn't seem right to me and inconsistent with other nameservers I checked over the relevant weekend.

Cheers,
Steven

Hi Steve,

PM me your domain name or send an email as informed above to hosting@exetel.com.au . We need to check if this a specific issue and manually push it.
