Plan charges increase?

Post by ausfatcat » Thu Mar 04, 2010 10:00 am

I am currently on the Plan Type: NONPHONE D
Monthly Access Charge: $85.00
Peak Download Limit (Mbyte): 54000
OffPeak Download Limit (Mbyte): 54000

I received a email today about the plan is increasing by $5

I am not complaining but it is weird because they now offer this plan

NF/23NOTEL Zero/$0.00 $60.00 70 gbytes 60 gbytes $0.50

cheaper and more download it doesn't make sense

If I change to one of these plans exetel gets less money than before seems a bit silly to me. BTW if I change plans do if have to pay a change plan fee?

$10 which is would be recovered in the first month's fees anyway.

yes I also can see the conundrum - if Exetel is losing money on our current plans, and we all choose to move to one of the newer plans that is cheaper than our existing one, then Exetel will loose even more money on us.

They must be counting on a majority of people either staying on the same plan at the new monthly fee, or moving to a higher plan

Exetel are swapping revenue for profit. Makes sense to me.

How?

In my case how can they make more profit on giving me more downloads and $30 less in fees?

there are some plans that aren't like this, you still get a benefit though :)

I think it is about consolidation. When lots of people are on grandfathered plans, there are costs and time overheads in administrating them. By moving all to current plans it reduces the administrative complexity. There might also be wholesale implications of having more users on equivalent / new plans
