Nother WoW Issue -constant dc

Post by M00_cow » Sun Sep 09, 2007 2:15 am

As subject states, past 2 weeks, i been putting up with it, but now as i check on the forums and see ppl hav'in issues with WoW thought i mite log my issue also.

Happens everyday, everytime i log in until it works. What happens is, i connect to wow, get in and the game will connect, as in load up graphically, but then continuously disconnect over and over until eventually it will just work.

It as though, i am in que to get into wow and theres a group of ppl trying to grab the 1 spot free. If you get the spot it works fine! If you don't, it allows you to get it for a second but then dc's you until you finally get a free spot. Usually, i am dc'd 5 - 10 times before it works. If i, once its working, quit the game, or the game lag's out/dc's this process starts again.

This has only been happening for the past 2 or so weeks. FIrst i thought nothing of it but now it's just pissing me off.

same issue happens to me in wow, it started off as described above^, but now even when i get a good connection is often gets slower and slower till i get disconnected (usually over about 20 minutes) or it just freezes then disconnectes.

It should also be noted that i live in the same area, in fact 5 minutes from m00_cow.

I've been putting up with it but im getting kinda pissed off and debating to change to internode or not.

unless this is fixed very soon u will have lost another customer =(

I've been experiencing similar login problems for a few weeks now (have to attempt to login 2-3 times before I can actually login), and the last couple of days I've been getting disconnected on a regular basis.

It's worth noting that when I get disconnected, my brother who is also on this connection gets disconnected at exactly the same time, but everything else non WoW is fine (HTTP/FTP/IRC/VoIP) . Once being disconnected, it usually takes a couple of minutes before we are able to login again.

Other people I'm playing with don't get disconnected when we do, I'm sure of this as I've been talking to them via teamspeak when it's happened.

EDIT: I play on Frostmourne

Yup this has been happening to me aswell for about 2 weeks now. I've also been experiencing huge lag during the morning (around 1am to 4am) that makes WoW unplayable. The crazy and weird thing is I can still download at full speeds perfectly fine.

Is the lag in the form of intermittent lag spikes only during this period?

I have been having disconnection issues during gameplay as well.
It has only started in the past 2 weeks and is irregular in the time it occurs, but regular in it is at least twice per night.
Lag has been woeful as well. Pings have jumped from low 300's to constantly being above 500.

It is starting to become extremely frustrating to say the least.

to make this a lil clearer about my issue, when i get disconnected, everything else seems to be a-ok. Internet works, downloads are proper speeds etc.

Although, i was playing warcraft 3 the other night, and i was experiencing the same kind of issues as in world of warcraft. When i join'd a server, and i had to download a map, i would have to reconnect a couple of times before a connection would actually be established and the download of the map would start. i tested this over 10 times. I know for a fact that this isn't normal behaviour.

I have tried a few games. There seems to be no issue with Counter-strike, natural selection, anything "Steam" related. I am thinking that this issue maybe isolated to those people who are connecting through "Blizzard"'s networks if that is even possible....

*edit* i also play on the oceanic server :Frostmourne: in world of warcraft.

Yeh it's mainly spikes for me, but I've had my fair share of 2k pings during the early hours. It's really weird.

Still happening right now, every 5-10min my game will freeze then all of a sudden everyone will speed up really fast until it reaches the current time (ingame).

I hope there is a solution soon, or i'll need to either stop playing WoW or churn.

The dramas continued again last night. Pings started at approx 280, climbed to over 800 and sat at that for an age, then disconnected after dropping back to approx 400. It is at the stage if pings hit 400-500, then the game will disconnect after freezing.
I'm also on an Oceanic server (Dath'Remar) not that that makes much of a difference.

All other internet traffic is fine, only WoW and it is becoming more frustrating the longer ot continues.

I don't play wow or anything similar but just skimming over this makes me think one of two things..

1) perhaps a recent update in the game has caused some bugs?
2) perhaps its not to do with exetel but rather blizzard or bnet or whatever it is wow uses to connect/authenticate

Just my insights..

Usually that is the case, but I've only heard of these problems lately from people I know connecting via Exetel

That was going to be my next question.. whether or not other users on other ISPs were experiencing this same issue.. Hmmm.

I have mates that play with me each night and they're about 10min drive away. They experience no lag or anything just good pings and don't seem to be having any problems.

Yeah, its exetel not liking blizzard or blizzard not liking exetel. As i said b4, i get disconnection issues and latency issues in both World of Warcraft and Warcraft 3. I get latency/disconnections in no other online games. Its interesting...

I do understand what you are saying but to me it just seems a little bit targeted on a specific server type.. forgive me if I'm wrong but doesn't wow and war3 authenticate to the same/similar servers? all through blizzard..

Does this occur all times of the day? As I also thought maybe it was something to do with Exetel's P2P deprioritization mechanism confusing the blizzard port for a P2P application?

There could be numerous scenarios. I would personally attempt to eliminate it on your end (reinstall wow, fresh patches, etc), contact blizzard and see if they know of any issue and then finally contact Exetel in relation to this..
