bring on the mac sms widget!

Post by ptim » Fri Oct 05, 2007 1:35 pm

I'd love to have a mac version...

there are a few widgets around which might do the trick...
http://www.smsmac.com/widget.php
http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/# ... sms-widget
http://keakaj.com/sms.htm

these all seem to be about sending via a subscription service, or from your own carrier, but maybe there is something interesting there...
I'd love a widget for exeSMS! thanks for the current progress :)

cheers, ptim

OK. On 3 Oct 2007 Exetel invited me to install and try eXeSMS v1.5. Today, Exetel invited me to make comments on this forum, and here they are...
1. The help file is missing - when I press F1, for the purpose of discovering whether the application can be run in batch mode, eXeSMS replies with the message "cannot open the file c:\Program files\eXeSMS\eXeSMS.chm".
2. Is it possible to to get eXeSMS to send an SMS on an event determined by my home PC, (ie when I am not home)?
3. and also BTW, eXeSMS worked on my laptop, at home, but when I plugged it in at work, and copied the proxy address from IE into eXeSMS, it did not work. I also tried to send an image, it did not work, but also, it did not tell me that it was not able to connect.

SMS by Broadband

I tested it out, but also found when I checked my Invoice that I'd been charged for the 2 messages I sent. I thought the 1st 20 were free?

And wasn't the first 20 free meant to start on 1st October?

It sounds like you are referring to the invoice you received on 1 October. In which case, this invoice refers to SMS's you sent during September - the "first 20 free" benefit only commenced on 1 October.

Hi,

The SMS from web is a great service, i like it
I'd really like to be able to delete sent SMS from the user facilities box. I don't mind having the date, time, no. of characters sent etc and the charge there to leave a record, but any chance of deleting the text please?

many thanks

VMN - Configure e-mail address for inbound SMS notifications

Post by bigbenhur » Fri Oct 05, 2007 11:31 pm

I have a Virtual Mobile Number (VMN) from Exetel and it's great.

One enhancement I would like is to be able to modify the e-mail address that e-mail notifications are sent to whenever a new SMS is received at the VMN. Currently I receive the e-mail notifications at 2 e-mail addresses that Exetel set up when I applied for the VMN - but I have no way of changing these myself. Should be possible to add a maintenance facility for this in the Exetel Member User Facilities I think?

Running under Linux

I can confirm that this does works perfectly under Wine - I am using wine-0.9.46 on Ubuntu Feisty using the version from this repo:

deb http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt feisty main

Just installed and configured on both Windows and Ubuntu and the install and setup was exactly the same. I had a memory violation the first time I did intial setup.. I had to save the info twice on BOTH Windows and Ubuntu. Other than that.. perfect.

How about being able to upgrade the client software without losing all your contacts?

I will forward your suggestion to the client software developer.

The easy solution is to export your contract list before you do upgrade. And, you can always import the contact from exported list.
