Wirless service down? Error 691 Access was denied

Post by glinted » Tue Oct 16, 2007 1:59 pm

I get the following error contstantly, tried many times, unplugged moden for 20 minutes and still not working, signal is ok. Here is the error:
Verifing Username & password
Error 691 Access was denied because the username & password was invalid on the domain.

This was working today & it suddenly just stopped, I had made no changes whatsoever.

I also tried calling your support & it doesn't accepet my username when I tried to log a fault? I used my phone number which is the same as I use to login with. I managed to login though to submit a ticket online.

So I now have to borrow someone elses PC to contact your support. This is really not good, please fix the wireless service and also update the status of your network as been down.

Are you an Exetel Wireless Customer? Or ADSL?

Theres a fault with the wireless service at the moment, engineers are investigating.

well it is now working again after I got home and support had looked into it. They sent the following message to me:
Hello,

This is a simple case of not enterring the details correctly or they're not saved correctly in th ecomputer, please re-enter those details and the connection will work again.
My response is:
That's not true, I have never had to renter my details as they are on permanently. So you are misinformed there. Anyway it is now working again
and just to be sure I had rebooted my pc, defragmented as well to try to fix any errors.

This is not my PC that caused this issue, I can assure you

Glinted,

As I mentioned in the previous post, there is an outage for all Exetel Unwired customers at the moment.

In this case it does appear to be related to a legitimate outage, as posted http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=23829]here.

However, be careful about jumping to the conclusion that your PC was not at fault. There have been one or two cases that I've noted in Exetel IRC support and also in a previous life, where people have insisted that "nothing's changed at my end", and I've done a bit of troubleshooting to find out that it was their equipment that was at fault. Had one guy have a go at me because he swore black and blue that his equipment was not at fault. He was somewhat embarrassed and apologetic when it worked after disabling his firewall.....

ok I see now, I misread it and this makes sense as the same thing happened when there was an outage last time from unwired.

UNWIRED DOWN

Post by sh0nky » Thu Oct 18, 2007 9:14 am

My wireless connection went ''down'' on the 16th,with the same 691 error at approx 1pm.I rang exetel support and they were very helpful.Even though the problem was not with Exetel they did everything in their power to resolve the issue, and it was fixed within half an hour. However since then i have noticed small outages of around 5 mins, particulary in the morning.I have always had very strong signal and quality levels and have never experienced these outages, except when ive been in low signal areas. Is UNWIRED still experiencing ''glitches'' with wireless at the moment?
Hard work never killed anyone ..but im not taking any chances :)
