No internet at Balmain exchange

Post by Governor » Sat Oct 27, 2007 1:51 pm

My ADSL2+ connection is currently offline. It went down on Friday evening (26th) and hasn't been up since.

The connection also went down last week, also on a Friday evening (19th), only to return on Monday morning, after I'd called up Exetel and was told there was an outage in the area, affecting many people.

Is there another outage this weekend or am I alone?

Hello,

I believe there might of been a problem last Friday night around say 7PM in the night time.

Please pm me your telephone number and I'll try a reset to see if it brings up the service.
Before sending me a PM I would suggest that you factory reset your modem and enter your login details again into your modem.

Thank You

Profile change has been done which should reset the port at the exchange.
End user is instructed to PM me back if there is any further difficulties.

Hello Governor,

I believe that you had a frozen session after speaking to Optus
The PPP session was still up for over 22 hours but I could not see you online from our radius.

Requested Optus to perform a full reset on your service.
Optus will call me back around 5PM this afternoon with further information.

Thank You

Governor

I am also from the Balmain exchange and I also have been out since Friday evening with a no authentication fault. I recently received an email saying a port reset was done, but that still hasn't worked.

Hi Governor,

I have escalated your case to a EXETEL engineer for further investigation as Optus believes we have to clear the session at our end.

This will be investigated on Monday.

Thank You

Thanks Richard.

I hope the 'session' can be cleared by your engineer. I'd appreciate it if you could keep me up to date with the developments.

Hi Icenov,

Hopefully our issues can be solved. It might take some time, though.

Hi Governor,

Please turn off and turn the ADSL modem back on again for me and advise if you have connection or not.

Thank You

It still isn't online. Sorry for the delay.

Same, I am from the Balmain exchange.

Is there anything that can be done to minimise these drop outs? Seriously this is becoming a joke. I had at least 5 drop outs sometimes lasting more than 3 days within a 3 week period.

And everytime it breaks during the weekends, there's the problem of waiting until Monday where someone will have to perform the port reset.

Is Exetel aware of this drop out issue at all?

Same thing has been happening to me. I am on the Kellyville exchange. Internet was down when I arrived home Friday evening and just came back on about an hour ago. The same thing occurred last weekend as well and then went off again Sunday evening.

I do a lot of eBay work on the weekends from home so it has been terrible to be down for such long periods. I'll have to work my butt off tomorrow to make up for lost time today.

Is anything being done to stop this from repeating?

My adsl is still out, but I see that my fault ticket has been "resolved" last night
ID: 569171

In the meantime I have had no connection since Friday, and like comicwiz I work from home and office 7 days a week, so no work gets done...

I've had the same problems over the past few weeks. Line sync is still active but I can't authorise.

I've logged a few support tickets and was advised that it is a known problem with no ETA for a fix.

Does anyone have any further detail on what the problem is or when it may be fixed?

As you can see, the fault is DUE for completion tomorrow morning before 10.30am; sit tight and let's hope your connections all return in the morning.

Good luck Balmainers! :D
