The server load was over 100 due to some rogue process. The process has been killed and the server restarted.

I still can't connect to the mySQL database. Is this still affected by the above issue?

I can't seee any problem so I've asked a sysadmin to look at the issue again.

Two customer databases produced two overlapping problems which took a while to sort out.

It will most likely be down until at least noon tomorrow.

Some bright spark has placed a script on their web site that is crashing the site and the MySQL process. Until that is tracked down - which takes some doing - there are going to be these sort of problems.
