WOW still unplayable through Exetel

Post by wagga2650 » Wed Jan 30, 2008 1:51 pm

Why is WOW so unplayable through Exetel?

You get into the game and then all of a sudden it goes slower and slower until you pc locks up and you have to reboot it and re-join again.

Now before Exetel tell me I have a computer or modem problem like every other time for speed issues, let me say this is not the case. To be quite frank I am getting fed up with this xxxx being told every thing is wrong with either my computer or modem. (maybe that's all that is written down for them to say to clients when a fault call come in)

I can take my pc to a friends house and log into a WOW server through a better ISP and it's fine, pings are still high but that's life logging into a server OS.

I know it's not my modem, It's been changed twice now. Everything else has been removed from my line so only the PC that was taken to a friends house is on the net and still the same.

His PC and modem in my home does the exact same thing as well.
My modem on his ISP and my PC on his ISP rip along just like his does.

i have the exact same problem. ive had to learn to live with it. i'm on the central coast, and in particular from about 4:30pm till about 11pm i have to quit WOW and restart it again to get in working. The admins all just say everything is working fine. Can't wait till the contract is up so i can move on.

Connection is uncertain at times.

The connection can be very uncertain.

Yesterday my latency went up to 600ms for wow before 8:30pm.

I began a raid at 9:00pm to 12:00pm and I didn't get any lag spikes. Lag spikes are very common at those times.

There has to be some sort of pattern in why the lag spikes tend to be common late at night and why sometimes the lag spike don't occur at all.

wagga, is it just WOW or is it your whole connection? I thought it was just WOW that was dropping out on me, but found i couldn't browse either, and ran some modem tests and found my whole internet connection was disconnecting and reconnecting.

Hi nluchow this is wagga2650 here

WOW is the only game that this is happening to but if you look at my other posts about downloading. It is now an impossibility. They were cutting off at 20Mb but now I'm lucky to get a 5Mb download.

However I can browse the net but it is very slow, sometimes the Google home page can take up to 8-10 mins to load. There is now heaps of pages I just get a 404 page cannot be found error. I have to rety that many times it's very frustrating

WoW

Yeah WoW went down for me too, just came back up so im heading back in. This is the second time ive lost connection for 20+mins to WoW (and only WoW) in the last month, taking into consideration the horrible latency i have been getting it might be time to sacrifice the fantastic download allowment i get for a more speedy service.

It's not WoW....24 other people are online in my raid...and my ventrilo ping currently reads as 15939.

Using ping in the command prompt to ping the server results in 178ms pings but once I connect i can't do anything.
