Slow ADSL 2 speeds

Post by TerryP » Sat May 03, 2008 3:25 am

Abysmally slow here too for the last 2 days.
Incphone A 15600/812 Attenuation10/6 SNR9/14

Test run on 03/05/2008 @ 04:12 AM
Mirror: Exetel
Data: 600 KB
Test Time: 42.01 secs
Your line speed is 116 kbps (0.12 Mbps).
Your download speed is 15 KB/s (0.01 MB/s).

Downloading files I have been getting about 10-15KB/s since about 11pm and browsing has been near unusable - 50% of the time pages don't load although www.news.com.au is fine.

I notice that on the adsl2 Optus traffic graph the blue line is much lower than normal for the last two days:

Could that mean something?

Sorry to jump in on this thread, but my speeds have been very average today. Under the minimum that Exetel states....

That is a test that i done before, it has been worse, but i was hoping it would get better by now...

Look at the optus adsl2+ link. For some reason bandwidth has been reduced since Thursday.

I have split the above posts off to a new topic so that they are not hijacking other threads. Thank you

I too experienced slow ADSL2 speeds today. Not sure why. It was unusual.

Im not sure if it is just me, but i feel that speed issues have been more frequent over the past couple of weeks.

Not to mention, today the speed isn't any better :?

I am pretty sure that speeds like this are below Exetel's minimum guarantee......

Me too, very slow - there must be something seriously wrong because this is not ADSL2 speed.

Slow speeds here too.

I can't even download a 10 meg file from Google Mail without it dropping the download after 1 meg

Same here, speeds are way too slow, even compared to exetel normal.
Cant view like half the websites on the web, as well as downloading files at slower than dialup speeds!

Code: Select all

Your current bandwidth reading is:

860.00kbps

which means you can download at 107.5 KB/sec. from our servers.
Whats up?

It is 1pm - peak time and I had three HTTP downloads running concurrently with a total of 90KB/s. This is better than the 20KB/s I was getting over night but it is not really acceptable for an Adsl2+ connection.

Then there is the slow browsing and page timeouts.

Why has there been no response from Exetel? Clearly something has been going on since Thursday. There are numerous people noting the same problem.

Has Exetel actually commented about the decreased bandwidth for the optus adsl2+ link? The timing (started on the 1st of this month) suggests the change was initiated by Exetel. Do we know why?
