I know that shaping does not affect traffic to Exetel sites, but does to other sites.
How long before shaping is lifted from my connection?

Hi

yeah im getting the same thing - still really slow downloads in the new month...it seems as though Im still shaped. Also, the shaping seems to occur over the 24 hr period, rather than the peak or off peak period of which you reached its limit, which doesnt make sense.

The shaping list will be reset today being the 1st of the month.

Yeah but when today. It should be reset at midnight. It's a pain in the arse, my quota has reset but the shaping hasn't.

I'd like to think Exetel weren't doing this discourage from people choosing the shaping option but I'm certainly considering changing back to having excess usage charges because this is unusable. I simply chose the shaping option because Exetel's usage monitor doesn't update very often and I would always go over a GB or two because I couldn't keep a good tab on what my usage was at. Now I think I'm just going to have to stop d/l a couple of GB before the end of my quota and just write them off all together so I don't get shaped or excess charges!

I'm not sure what the answer is, but a fast shaping speed would make a lot of sense to me, especially off peak when Exetel is markedly slower anyway due to the 48GB leechers (which I must admit I am one of, but that's what it's hear for though, right?).

definitely doesnt appear to be related to shaping:

This is the result I got from http://www.exetel.com.au/speed at 10:30ish:
Your current bandwidth reading is:

125.90kbps

which means you can download at 15.74 KB/sec. from our servers.

and again right now (11:05):
Your current bandwidth reading is:

96.50kbps

which means you can download at 12.06 KB/sec. from our servers.

It seems that either the congestion is still there or something else has gone wrong somewhere in the network... I'm not sure how to interpret the graphs (pretty sure green is downloads and blue is uploads), but this might explain the congestion:
Traffic 2 To/From The Internet Via Optus(550 mbps Plus)
Daily' Graph (5 Minute Average):

I did the same test a little earlier and again just now and it says I can download at 63.64 KB/sec. from our servers both times. Isn't that the shaping speed?

I don' t believe my service is shaped and even if it was, I use so little that it wouldn't make any difference any how.... but my speed is hellishly slow this morning... refer: Image Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I believe the shaped speed is 64 K-bits/sec (not 64 K-BYTES/sec).

I don't think you guys are being shaped. Speeds are just very slow this morning and I don't have any shaping on my plan. I'm getting the following at 12.20pm:

Your current bandwidth reading is:

670.10kbps

which means you can download at 83.76 KB/sec. from our servers.

Exetel need to get their act together about the speed issues. There are definitely speed issues with exetel that they need to sort it out. I've been with exetel since January and speeds have been up and down all over the place. It's so bad that I wouldn't recommend exetel ADSL2+ to anybody.

Hi, i was shaped last month and today its going horribly slow. I dont think its related to shaping however because things are going faster then when shaped ie, im downloading at around 100-150kbit/s compared to 64kbit/s when shaped. This is still however much slower then my obtainable speed.

Could there be a network issue?

No updates that I am aware of. Unfortunately, being a Sunday means that this issue's resolution may be delayed a little
