ADSL2+ Speed Issues Maitland Exchange

Post by Deaths_Vengeance » Sat Feb 14, 2009 11:09 pm

Hi

Ive just been upgraded to ADSL2+ via the powertel deal, unfortunately my speed varies from on peak to off peak, i receive full speed during off peak and crap speed during on peak and im 100% positive that im not over my download allocation. Ive reset my modem, made sure no other programs or services are running that use the web, ive checked all physical connections. Im not happy because my speed is worse than when i had 1500/256 and that i can send data quicker than what i can receive it.

Here is the exetel speed test results
Your current bandwidth reading is:

638.40kbps

which means you can download at 79.8 KB/sec. from our servers.

Here is the stats from my modem (billion 5102):

SNR Margin
7.8 Down 10.5 Up db

Line Attenuation
26.0 Down 18.3 Up db

Data Rate
14877 Down 791 Up kbps

Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Jared

I saw your post at http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.ph ... 6&p=235295; it does sound like a similar issue as whatever your issue is, it is only affecting throughput, not sync speed.

Logged faults are always the best way to deal with these issues as sometimes individual posts can get overlooked so just keep an eye on your ticket (you will likely get a very generic first response asking for isolation tests and possibly further speed tests. Just reply to the ticket and the results will be looked at in more detail)

This is getting a bit silly, im getting the automated message saying that "the problem is being looked into" all week. with no updates from my ticket at all since tuesday. Is it possible im on some form of profile limiting my download speed? im not after much just an update from someone about whats going on and just some reassurance that the matter is being looked into and progress has been made.

Jared

Other threads have detailed some systemic slow speeds caused by carrier bandwidth capacity due for upgrade tomorrow. I'm not sure if your exchange falls into this same category, but if you have no improvement or response by Monday, you can try contacting Exetel again (via phone support, or residentialsupport@exetel.com.au, or perhaps PM'ing JasonM) and ask for an update by quoting your ticket number

all fixed by the look of things because of that upgrade, speed holding at 12Mbits.
