Reduction of Off Peak Period?

Post by Disambiguate » Wed May 05, 2010 8:33 pm

Ok i just got an email from exetel stating that my current 12am-12pm off peak is being changed to 2am-8am starting from June 1st...

Is this a nationwide change to all adsl 1 services (which i am on) or is this in some way a "punishment" to me for downloading 140gb in my off-peak for last month?

Your not alone mate. There is uproar about this on a recently locked thread.

Upset quite a few loyal customers, myself included.

Thank you for the reply. I hadn't seen that post.

I would rather have a soft limit to off-peak as it was in the past (60gb-80gb for my FP-C2 plan) with a 12-12 time frame compared to "unlimted" downloads on a 2am-8am time frame.

This really is quite annoying.

Maybe you could offer users a choice of either:

12am-12pm off peak at a limit of say 60GB and at 50c per excess GB

OR

2AM – 8AM unlimited

Just my idea to help resolve this situation.
since the whole problem is about choice, Just give people the choice

Thats what i mentioned in my 2nd post (3rd post in the topic). In my opinion most people would rather a larger offpeak window with a limit to downloads than have a shorter off peak window thats "unlimited"

Where on earth did you get "zero" from?

Because, probably like most of the population, I am asleep during the period 2AM to 8AM.

And seems it is "zero", according to the recent plan changes exetel don't offer offpeak period anymore. A set limit and then shape to 512k for the remainder of the month.

I'm guessing this is temporary for new users only, to help reduce the load till they get sorted and come to a better arrangement. It may also have something to do with the backlash from Exetel customers at the change of 12 hours free offpeak to 6 hours but that is pure speculation. I must say the backlash was a bit of a shock to me considering the value (with ADSL2+ plans anyway) Exetel users get. Maybe we were too spoiled for too long :dunno:
