is it transferrabe to another house......or would the contract be broken with $100 to pay and a new connection made again.
i keep putting off changing plans in case i move.....but it is not happening..... and meanwhile the deals get better and better

what happens to the discount on the ADSL when it is combined with the $19 mobile cap plan.??
if the discount continues..... it is very great deal indeed

ETa... i should clarify that i refer to the plan as offered today to me as an existing grandfathered AAPT customer.........and has 6 months free adsl.

It is actually impossible to transfer your service. You need to cancel and reapply. So you are best waiting until you move in.

You can then order an OT or OF plan as a new customer with a CAP plan and receive 6 months Free on your monthly adsl charge.

I switched from PTL-B to A30 ADSL2+ and a 12 month contract in January 2011.
I added a CAP35 HSPA service in March 2011, and now get a $15 discount off the $45 ADSL plan.

Yesterday I received an email offering 6 months free on my Exetel ADSL service if I move to an Optus plan. Sounds really good, however:

• Do I lose the $15 discount for the associated CAP35 service?
• I can't find any record of an early termination charge, which I guess I must pay if taking up this offer. What is that charge?

It sounds like this offer suits me so hopefully the answers are favourable! Thanks all.

-No, you will still receive a $15 discount off your monthly bill.
-As you are technically out of contract with our supplier, you will not incur any early termination fees.

Not sure if there are people who still wish to take up the offer that are reading this threads. I would like to point out, that just I thought, this "zero downtime" claim is untrue.

My transfer date is scheduled to be today, and I woke up to find that the ADSL line sync is lost. By dialing 12711, I confirmed that the phone line has been transferred to Optus.

A call to the provisioning, came back with a reply "Your ADSL will be activated by 5.30pm today". My question: "So it is not zero downtime then?" The reply: "No sir. They are doing some testing on the line at this stage."

So at least a few hours downtime, could be more, fingers crossed.

I'm interested to hear feedbacks from other users in regard to this.

There are a number of posts sprinkled around these forums that comment on such downtime. Most of them state how the downtime, if it existed, was not noticeable.

For instance, viewtopic.php?p=291924#p291924 says how Powertel / Telstra -> Optus transfers are harder to transfer seamlessly, but they can still be managed without downtime if all goes well.
viewtopic.php?p=287602#p287602 is another that stated there was no downtime, but incoming calls were disrupted

The posts you linked appear to refer to the early transfers from powertel to optus. At those times, there were no claims of zero downtime, the unnoticeable part was for telephone services, not ADSL. I didn't notice any telephone issues either this time, even incoming calls are fine. The problem is ADSL. It was reconnected just after 3pm, and was down between 8am and 9am in the morning, so about 6 to 7 hours down time in total.

One more thing I should mention, my ADSL2 connection has the speed dropped to 8192/384 after the order was sent through. I asked support whether this is the case for all such transfers, and they didn't answer me, simply asked me to wait till the transfer is completed. My speed has come back to ADSL2+ now. It'll be good if I was informed about before the transfer is taken place though.

Anyway, I just do not like Exetel to use the term "zero downtime", when I believe many users will find out that is not the case one way or another. I'm a personal user, and these problems do not affect me that much. However, some small business owners may choose to believe Exetel, and the unexpected outages could cost them in some way.

You are way off topic. If you are unhappy with Exetel please select another supplier and we will not charge any early termination....we DEFINITELY do not want to obtain business by any sort of deception that you are saying the company indulges in.

Email: larryk@exetel.com.au and he will ensure you are not charged any ETC.

If you want to disparage Exetel then either open a new thread or post somewhere else.

Yes that is correct.

The Free Months applies only to the Monthly ADSL Charge, therefore on the 6 months you have free, you still have to pay $20 for the telephone line. the discounts will be credited towards this.

I just had a look to see if there were any good deals on at the moment, for my neighbour and also myself
if there was a better deal, although am unsure about my contract details. I think is was 12 months from October.

Anyway I really can't understand what would be available to me as i technically don't have a standard phone line anymore.

Would appreciate your advice on any plans that would be suitable or better value!

I am more than happy with the current internet speed, voip is ok.
Have only had a few dropouts' but sometimes there is a delay which is annoying!

Also my neighbour needs internet and home phone, currently has neither. Could you advise a suitable plan for her also. her internet usage would only be low.

I have been with Exetel for two years and happy about your services (both ADSL and mobile). Recently, I upgraded my ADSL1 to ADSL2 for the three month free service and was told I can not get this as an existing customer this monring. Your saler told me that the only way that I can get the free service (six month now) is to cancel my current service and sign a new contract. However, it will spend 2~3 weeks. For me, it sounds ridiculous. Is there any easy way for your existing customer to get this ? My service number is 0242250484 and my contract was already expired on 02/07/2011. If there is no way, I will cancel my current ADSL2 service and sign a new contract. It is a litter trouble and ridiculous, but considering 6 months free services, it worths.

Can you give any suggestion? Such troubles may not only anger me, but also your technique people and supplier. I just want to find a way to save our time and energy.
