Location Affected: Chatswood, NSW

Event Start Time: 02/05/2019 6:35 AM AEDT

Products Impacted : Fibre

Additional Information: Few customers in the above mentioned area may experience a complete disruption on the connection.

Root cause : Still being investigated.

Estimated Resolution : Our wholesale supplier is unable to provide us with an estimated time of resolution.

Update

Further investigations identified hardware (switch card) recovered at 06:58 however failed again at 07:07. A technician was arranged to replace faulty hardware.

After the replacement services recovered at 07:21 however failed again. A technical bridge is underway with Level 3 and hardware vendor.

Update

Technicians have attempted multiple hardware replacements which have been unsuccessful.
Possible chassis replacement is currently being investigated.

Update

To mitigate impact, Telstra technical staff are in the process of patching services to an adjacent switch. The adjacent switch requires reconfiguring and individual patch cords will be run for the services.

In parallel their technical staff will continue to pursue the replacement of the faulty switch.

Update

Patching and progressive restoration work continues.

Telstra technical staff are currently working to restore impacted services.

Update

Patching of services to spare MSE has been completed successfully. A port (122/11) has failed to recover on the MSE, affecting few services. Port failure issue is being investigated by the IP Networks team as a separate issue.
