ABC iView
Is there any possibility for ABC iView content to become unmetered?
Re: ABC iView
I would be very surprised if Exetel will do that. Best bet is to watch iView in off-peak times.
The views I present are that of my own and NOT of any organisation I may belong to.

Re: ABC iView
Yeah, that was always going to be a fallback option.
I was just pondering seeing as the ABC iView service would be quite enjoyable in the evening, especially if it is uncapped. I agree with Exetel's position on uncapped services in general due to the generous off peak quotas provided however since iView is hosted on Akamai (unless I am mistaken) and Exetel has a 500mbit Akamai link (unless I am mistaken), I was thinking it could be a feasible future development.

Exetel give each customer 48 gb of 'free' downloads'.waynejkruse10 wrote:Is there any possibility for ABC iView content to become unmetered?
How much more generous do you think it's possible to be?
Re: ABC iView
As, like John, I don't believe anything is free...........
Who pays when ISPs offer "free" or unmetered access to something like the ABC's iView?
If the ISP pays for the cost of the downloads, what's in it for them?

Fair enough, just curious. Is is not the purpose of this specific forum? To nut out ideas, if they are feasible or not?ForumAdmin wrote:Exetel give each customer 48 gb of 'free' downloads'.waynejkruse10 wrote:Is there any possibility for ABC iView content to become unmetered?

As a customer of Exetel for over 3 years, I do not wish to foster any contempt between myself and the management. I felt my enquiry was earnest and objective and in no way condescending, please do not take it that way and reply as such.

I apologise - no "contempt" was intended.waynejkruse10 wrote:

You/every Exetel customer can currently download ABC content (up to 48 gb) 'free' already.
Making some content 'free' rather than simply saying use 48 gb for whatever content you care to choose seems an inferior concept to me.
Like you; I'm simply expressing a view. Our gradual increasing of 'free content' and increasing the time that 'free content' can be downloaded has been a long journey so far (almost 5 years with a lot of pain and expense along the way) and it hasn't been undertaken on a 'whim' but as part of a carefully thought through long term plan which we are only part way through completing - in the event such a plan can ever be completed.

Re: ABC iView
Just wondering if there is an update to this - are Exetel considering ever having iView unmetered?
Re: ABC iView
Depends when you are viewing it. if you're happy with am you can view it (freely, uncounted) all morning/ if it's pm you've a Prepaid/fixed quota above which incurs a low $3.00-$0.50 /GB for about 1 hrs viewing ie. $3.00-$0.00 metered 'depending' on when you use it, and you can always schedule it for morning i.e. Free.funkz wrote:Just wondering if there is an update to this - are Exetel considering ever having iView unmetered?
There are ISPs who provide options for content and services but they're bigger and more costly than Exetel, big on promoting brands and picking winners while Exetel just provides bigger value.
