Naked users forgotten?

Post by rseydler » Fri Nov 05, 2010 3:27 pm

With land line plans go from..

OTAA $60.00 12 Months $23.00 50 GB 180 GB
to
OTDD $60.00 12 Months $58.00 150 GB 180 GB

but naked plans go from

ONA $60.00 12 Months No Line Needed $43.00 10 GB 180 GB
to
OND $60.00 12 Months No Line Needed $73.00 90 GB 180 GB

is being naked naughty? :)

If I recall correctly, ForumAdmin posted recently that the Naked plans have no room to move, compared to the bundled plans, because of cross subsidies within the bundles.

Well that's pretty weird because if we compare price points...wireline $23 + $30 line rental ($53) = 50GB .... vs same priced $53 naked plan = 30GB.

So the logic of ...
OTBB $60.00 12 Months $33.00 75 GB 180 GB $816.002 = ONC $60.00 12 Months No Line Needed $63.00 60 GB 180 GB $816.003
and
OTCC $60.00 12 Months $43.00 100 GB 180 GB $936.002 = OND $60.00 12 Months No Line Needed $73.00 90 GB 180 GB $936.003
is incorrect?

Or am I missing something completely. I would have imagined same price point same peak allowance?

The OTxx plans only recently got a peak allowance boost. Previously it was OTAA/OTBB/OTCC = 20GB/40GB/80GB compared to ONB/ONC/OND = 30GB/60GB/90GB (google cache page here still has it), so the relativities were broadly correct: Naked plans, cheaper to provide, therefore more quota for same monthly fee.

Perhaps the ONx plans will get a similar boost to quotas soon, bringing the relativities back again.

Would be nice. I'll wait and see what happens.

It doesn't quite work that way.

Naked plans have no 'upside' in terms of telephone call profit compared to bundled plans.

It only means that new deals with carriers on wire line call charges are not going to be available to naked plans.

You can always bundle a mobile plan with naked and get a $10/$15/$20 monthly discount.

Is there a way to transfer from Naked to With Telephone? In my member facilities I only see naked options to change to. If I sign up for a 6/12 month contract will there be any fees?

Edit: Wow http://exewiki.exetel.com.au/index.php? ... Downgrades it will cost $98 :(

In relation to moving from Naked ADSL to a bundled with Telephone servce.

- We can do this within 2-3 working days and provide a new telephone number in this process
- Your naked ADSL2 service will NOT be affected during this process
- It WILL cost $98 to activate the Telephony component on the line
- At this stage it is not in the user facilities, we will work on providing this ability but have to iron out specifics like final process/cost etc.

Useful answer, cheers - I just e-mailed support to find that out, should've come here first. Will the contract end date change if I switch from an ONx to an OTL-x service?

Can the naked service number still be retained (in addition to the new telephone number?)
Can the naked service number be ported to the PSTN service?
- It WILL cost $98 to activate the Telephony component on the line
ouch. That adds $8/month to the 12 month contract (granted, one has to expect some sort of "sunk" provisioning cost).
What about transferring from ONx to the new OTFree-x bundles?

Hi,
Can the naked service number still be retained (in addition to the new telephone number?)
Can the naked service number be ported to the PSTN service?
- The Naked ADSL2 'service number' in so far as what is tied with the account details will be replaced with the new telephone service number
- If you've ported your PSTN to VOIP as part of the Naked ADSL2 process, it will STILL be there, only as an auxiliary service attached the to account via the new telephone number
ouch. That adds $8/month to the 12 month contract (granted, one has to expect some sort of "sunk" provisioning cost).
What about transferring from ONx to the new OTFree-x bundles?
- It doesn't matter. Our supplier charges us a once off activation fee in preparing the un-used copper pair for telephony. Once off $98.
