This would be great (hopefully with some off peak as well).

Currently on 6 gig peak / 60 gig off peak - don't usually use more than 5 gig peak.

Hi Exetel,

Just a quick question about signing up to those new bundled plans.

In the application form there is a check box about international calls:
"I understand that my monthly access charge will increase by $10.00 per month if I choose to use another provider for long distance calls"

Does that mean that you can not use those calling cards that you buy from the shops? or even the Extel 'X' calling cards?

Thanks in avance, sorry if this has already been asked.

It doesn't apply to international calls or the use of calling cards.

What about using the exetel voip that is running in conjunction with the PSTN line to make long distance? Does that violate the terms of the agreement?

VoIP is a pure data product, it should have no bearing whatsoever on the PSTN. The answer must clearly and sensibly be NO, it doesn't violate the terms.

ForumAdmin, Can you please provide clarication to whether users on ON plans will be charged the extra $10 should they opt NOT to take up the new OCV plans?
sleeping247 wrote:
I'm confused by the newsletter and the email received a few days ago advising us of the OCV plans.
I was under the impression that current naked users had the option of taking up the "special offer" OCV plans or remaining on their current plans, if the new OCV plans didn't suit their needs. The newsletter seems to force us onto these plans by imposing an additional $10 charge if we choose to remain on the current ON plans beyond February.

Back in July 2010, Exetel threatened to disconnect my service had I not moved off my NF/NO TEL plans and onto a ON plan. I'm still quite bitter about this, and to add insult to injury, I had to pay the $10 plan change fee when I didn't even want a plan change! Then a few months down the track, you tacked on a $3 admin charge. What really gets me is how some users in this very thread post that they are still on the NF/NO TEL plans, so why on earth was I forced off and others werent?

Granted the $10 plan change fee does not apply in this instance, but it's quite frustrating having to change plans every few months.

Can you please offer some clarification to ease my confusion?

ForumAdmin's first post on viewtopic.php?f=4&t=37427 stated that the $10.00 price increase per month only applies to customer plans that are out of contract and will apply to all such plans

Thanks for that.
I can understand the $10 charge being applied for NF/NOTEL plans, but why the ON plans too? These were introduced only 6 months ago when Exetel was saying it wasnt profitable and forced me (but not others) onto the new plan.
Current plan: ONB $53 (will be $63 next month), 30/180gb, No Contract, VOIP
New Plan: OCV200 $60, 200gb, 12 month contract, PSTN + VOIP

You seem to have a bee in your bonnet .... perhaps there is some mis-understanding as to whom was or was not required to change plans. It may even be true that the "others" that appear to have not changed plans, actually did -- automatically or by choice.

I would presume that if you were forced to change, then all others on the same plan would have been treated exactly the same way UNLESS your case was somewhat different to theirs for some reason..... and I'm not so sure that is likely, but it is possible. Maybe an error was made in "forcing" you, maybe an error was made in not "forcing" others???? Whatever the case may be, surely there should be some reasonable explanation, don't you think?

Yes thank you, I do have a bee in my bonnet.

07/05/2010 - Email received from Exetel provisioning advising NF/NOTEL23 to be withdrawn and I should change plans or providers by 30/06/2010 else be disconnected

I sent an email requesting clarification and received the following responses on 17/05/2010
Dear Sir
Thank you for your e-mail.
I can confirm that the NF/23 NOTEL plan is being withdrawn and we have sent automated messages to all customers using the plan currently that it will be withdrawn with effect from June.
We would recommend that you change the plan to one of the new plans available on both the service number's on if they are both on the same plan.
Should you require any further information please contact us.

and for some reason, this came through helpdesk too, also on 17/05/2010
Dear Sir
Thank you for your e-mail.
Exetel is withdrawing this plan and you should either select another Exetel plan that may suit you or move to another provider by midnight on June 30th 2010.
Should you require any further clarification please contact us.

I reluctantly changed plans on 17/06/2010 but people have been posting that they are still on the NF/NO TEL plans.
I'd be more than happy to pay the $10 "grandfathered plan" surcharge for a NF/NO TEL plan, but why on the ON plans which arent even old enough to be considered a father plan, let alone a grand fathered plan.

I not sure why other people are still on NF/NOTEL plans. Perhaps they have their plan name incorrect and, like you, were migrated to ON or similar plans.
The ON plans might have only been introduced 6 months ago, but if you are out of contract Exetel is able to alter the prices if they deem it necessary (and apparently they do deem in necessary). I'm afraid that you simply have to make a choice based on pricing information available at the present time. With these new plans, as with previous plans and plan migrations, you can select a new contract should you desire fixed pricing and plan continuity.

As much as I wish this was the case, I highly doubt it, but only Exetel can answer definitively if there are still users on NF/NO TEL plans.
Just doing a quick search for "NF" in this thread, two different posters have stated they are on NF/NO TEL plans. ForumAdmin has even quoted and replied to one of those.

I'm not disputing whether Exetel can or can't alter prices, but merely venting my frustration at the method and frequency in which it is done.
Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy with my two services (on identical plans). But the other user was spot on when he said I had a bee in my bonnet from 6 months ago.

On a side note, does anyone know where live support has gone? I can't seem to find the link here anymore, and the link google links to throws a startup error: SecurityException
Has it been pulled?
